Porphyry gold deposit.

The ore bodies of the Paodaoling Au deposit are hosted within granodiorite porphyry. Network veins and disseminated ores have led some studies to regard it as a porphyry Au deposit. This deposit is an IS epithermal Au deposit based on the sulfides present (including low-Fe sphalerite) and altered silicate minerals. In 2001, the Zijin Mining Company conducted nearly 6.4 km of drilling in 31 holes and bored 3.2 km of tunnels; these efforts indicated Au reserves of 6.3 tons (2.10 g/t). The Xincheng Mining Company drilled nearly 28.6 km in 86 holes and revealed Au reserves of 36.5 tons (1.93 g/t, 1.0 g/t cutoff) from 2011 to 2016. The surface oxidized ore and outcropping primary ore in the deposit were continuously mined from 2001 to 2016. The exposed strata in the deposit consist mainly of Silurian carbonaceous siltstones and shales, sandstones and Devonian quartz sandstones. The ore bodies in the deposit are developed mainly between F1 and F3. The ore bodies of the Paodaoling Au deposit are hosted mainly in granodiorite porphyry. Two ore bodies developed in the Paodaoling Au deposit, including the north and south ore bodies. The sulfide veins in the orebody mainly developed into two types: the first type of veins was filled with hydrothermal fluid in the shear joints with a dip angles of 50°, and the width of the veins varied little, mainly between 0.1 and 0.5 cm. In the second type of vein, hydrothermal fluids filled in high-angle tensional fractures with dip angles of 75–85°, as well as in associated pinnate joints and plumose structures. The widths of the high-angle veins range from microscopic pinnate veins to 2 cm, most of which are 0.2–2 cm, whereas high-angle veins greater than 5 cm in length are rare.
T three main hydrothermal stages can be identified in the Paodaoling Au deposit. Stage Ⅰ is characterized primarily by shear joints and high-angle tensional veins in the southern orebody. Stage II has the major gold mineralization. The quartz–sulfide veins were emplaced along preexisting veins that formed during earlier mineralization. Stage III is the major gold mineralization stage, but the gold-bearing sulfide veins were filled in the high angle tensional fractures.
