Mineral List

Mineral list contains entries from the region specified including sub-localities

16 valid minerals. 1 erroneous literature entry.

Detailed Mineral List:

ⓘ Almandine
Formula: Fe2+3Al2(SiO4)3
References:
ⓘ Chalcopyrite
Formula: CuFeS2
References:
ⓘ Chondrodite
Formula: Mg5(SiO4)2F2
Description: This entry was posted without any reference. No analysis of chondrodite has been found in publications or known among Swedish collectors so far (2016). Dravite occurs as a brown-yellowish mineral at Stakholmen, and it could be a misidentification.
ⓘ Columbite-(Mg)
Formula: (Mg,Fe,Mn)(Nb,Ta)2O6
ⓘ Cordierite
Formula: (Mg,Fe)2Al3(AlSi5O18)
Description: Jonsson (1996) says Cordierite mostly occurs as grey to blue anhedral masses in an outer zone of the prismatine-bearing assemblage.
ⓘ Dravite
Formula: NaMg3Al6(Si6O18)(BO3)3(OH)3(OH)
Description: Jonsson (1996) says "In most of the investigated specimens, prismatine is intimately intergrown in a medium- to coarse-grained white or colourless to light tan mass mainly composed of subhedral sheaves of white enstatite, white, sheafy talc and a light brownish phlogopitic mica. Dravite, quartz and plagioclase occur as slightly less common constituents of this assemblage. In some samples, a disequilibrium texture with prismatine being rimmed by dravite is apparent In most samples, however, dravite occurs as either disparate euhedral crystals, or as anhedral, blebby inclusions in komerupine."
ⓘ Enstatite
Formula: Mg2Si2O6
Habit: subhedral sheaves
Colour: white or colourless to light tan
Fluorescence: light blue under SW and MW, nearly white and weaker under LW
Description: Jonsson (1996) says "In most of the investigated specimens, prismatine is intimately intergrown in a medium- to coarse-grained white or colourless to light tan mass mainly composed of subhedral sheaves of white enstatite, white, sheafy talc and a light brownish phlogopitic mica. Dravite, quartz and plagioclase occur as slightly less common constituents of this assemblage. In some samples, a disequilibrium texture with prismatine being rimmed by dravite is apparent In most samples, however, dravite occurs as either disparate euhedral crystals, or as anhedral, blebby inclusions in kornerupine."
ⓘ Galena
Formula: PbS
References:
ⓘ 'Hornblende Root Name Group'
Formula: ◻Ca2(Z2+4Z3+)(AlSi7O22)(OH,F,Cl)2
ⓘ Magnetite
Formula: Fe2+Fe3+2O4
References:
ⓘ Phlogopite
Formula: KMg3(AlSi3O10)(OH)2
Colour: light brown
Description: Jonsson (1996) says "In most of the investigated specimens, prismatine is intimately intergrown in a medium- to coarse-grained white or colourless to light tan mass mainly composed of subhedral sheaves of white enstatite, white, sheafy talc and a light brownish phlogopitic mica. Dravite, quartz and plagioclase occur as slightly less common constituents of this assemblage."
ⓘ 'Plagioclase'
Formula: (Na,Ca)[(Si,Al)AlSi2]O8
Description: Jonsson (1996) says "In most of the investigated specimens, prismatine is intimately intergrown in a medium- to coarse-grained white or colourless to light tan mass mainly composed of subhedral sheaves of white enstatite, white, sheafy talc and a light brownish phlogopitic mica. Dravite, quartz and plagioclase occur as slightly less common constituents of this assemblage."
✪ Prismatine
Formula: (◻,Fe,Mg)(Mg,Al,Fe)5Al4Si2(Si,Al)2(B,Si,Al)(O,OH,F)22
Habit: Elongated rough, prismatic crystals arranged in divering aggregates or subparallell bundles
Colour: Grey to greyish white
Fluorescence: Yellow best under MW
Description: Jonsson (1996) says "Prismatine occurs at Stakholmen as elongated, rough, prismatic crystals of a generally grey or greyish white colour, more rarely green or purplish grey. […] In most of the investigated specimens, prismatine is intimately intergrown in a medium- to coarse-grained white or colourless to light tan mass mainly composed of subhedral sheaves of white enstatite, white, sheafy talc and a light brownish phlogopitic mica. Dravite, quartz and plagioclase occur as slightly less common constituents of this assemblage. In some samples, a disequilibrium texture with prismatine being rimmed by dravite is apparent"
ⓘ Pyrite
Formula: FeS2
References:
ⓘ Pyrrhotite
Formula: Fe1-xS
References:
ⓘ Quartz
Formula: SiO2
Description: Jonsson (1996) says "In most of the investigated specimens, prismatine is intimately intergrown in a medium- to coarse-grained white or colourless to light tan mass mainly composed of subhedral sheaves of white enstatite, white, sheafy talc and a light brownish phlogopitic mica. Dravite, quartz and plagioclase occur as slightly less common constituents of this assemblage."
ⓘ Sillimanite
