Detailed Mineral List:

ⓘ 'Allanite Group'
Formula: (A12+REE3+)(M13+M23+M32+)O[Si2O7][SiO4](OH)
ⓘ Andalusite
Formula: Al2(SiO4)O
ⓘ 'Apatite'
Formula: Ca5(PO4)3(Cl/F/OH)
ⓘ 'Biotite'
Formula: K(Fe2+/Mg)2(Al/Fe3+/Mg/Ti)([Si/Al/Fe]2Si2O10)(OH/F)2
ⓘ 'Chlorite Group'
Description: Chlorite composition varies between corundophilite, pseudothuringite and ripidolite.
ⓘ Chloritoid
Formula: Fe2+Al2O(SiO4)(OH)2
Description: Chloritoid is ironrich and exhibits strong zoning. Its Fetot content uniformly decreases from the core (1.856 a.p.f.u.) to the rim (1.585 a.p.f.u.), whilst the Mg content increases (0.051 to 0.146 a.p.f.u.).
ⓘ 'Clay minerals'
ⓘ Corundum
Formula: Al2O3
ⓘ Corundum var. Sapphire
Formula: Al2O3
ⓘ Diaspore
Formula: AlO(OH)
ⓘ Gahnite
Formula: ZnAl2O4
ⓘ 'Gahnite-Hercynite Series'
Description: SEM/EDS analyses have shown that spinel in the study area is a solid solution between hercynite (49 to 71 %mole) and gahnite (24 to 49 %mole) whilst the Mg component is negligible. Two groups of spinel can be distinguished in terms of the gahnite component: group “A” with gahnite content ranging from 24 to 38 %mole and group “B” with higher contents of the gahnite component (46 - 49 %mole). Chemical zoning was detected only in group “A” with crystals showing an enrichment in the hercynite component toward the rims whilst the reverse pattern is true for the gahnite component. Spinel with even higher gahnite content (as much as 62 %mole) has been previously reported (Ockenga 2000) in Ikaria.
ⓘ Hematite
Formula: Fe2O3
ⓘ 'Högbomite Group'
Habit: discrete idiomorphic pleochroic crystals forming star-like aggregates which result from its epitactic overgrowth on ilmenite
Colour: brown
Description: Listed as simply "zincohögbomite" in Iliopoulos and Katagas (2004).
ⓘ Ilmenite
Formula: Fe2+TiO3
ⓘ 'Limonite'
ⓘ Margarite
Formula: CaAl2(Al2Si2O10)(OH)2
Description: Margarite contains up to 23 mole% paragonite component, whilst its muscovite component never exceeds 6 mole%.
ⓘ 'Monazite Group'
Formula: REE(PO4)
ⓘ Pseudorutile
Formula: Fe2Ti3O9
Description: Chemical analyses of pseudorutile show a wide compositional range, being thus interpreted as an intermediate alteration product of ilmenite. (Henjy et al., 2002).
ⓘ Quartz
Formula: SiO2
ⓘ Rutile
Formula: TiO2
ⓘ Sillimanite
Formula: Al2(SiO4)O
ⓘ Spinel
Formula: MgAl2O4
ⓘ Titanite
Formula: CaTi(SiO4)O
ⓘ 'Tourmaline'
Formula: AD3G6 (T6O18)(BO3)3X3Z
ⓘ Ulvöspinel
Formula: TiFe2+2O4
ⓘ Zircon
Formula: Zr(SiO4)
