The station is 40 kilometres south of Newman, but just within the Meekatharra Shire. The chrome chalcedony is being mined by a local specimen dealer.
The quarry is on a relatively narrow intrusive serpentinite body called the Southern Ultramafic Intrusion, trending east for 30 kilometres, hosted by the granite-greenstone Sylvania Inlier.
The prospect is on a small hill of massive silica capping developed over weathered ultramafic serpentinite rock. The chrome chalcedony occurs as irregular masses of dark green material with subordinate areas of light green relict host serpentine, the green caused by chromium. The material is 90% microcrystalline silica. Rosettes and microfans of subradiating chalcedony up to 0.6mm in diameter may occur in the material, and there are numerous opaque mineral grains of hematite, magnetite and chromite. There are minute traces of talc and moganite, although not observable without specialist equipment.
