Lower Cambrian phosphorite beds with overlying black shales. The shales carry nickel and molybdenum minerals, while the phosphorite contains uranium and rare earth elements (REE). Uranium and REE carriers are collophane (isomorphic substitution), clay and carbonaceous-argillaceous matter (adsorption). In addition, a metallic layer between the phosphorite and the shales contains base metal sulfides.
