Tambani Intrusion

Corundum of industrial and gem quality.

The main body consists of nepheline syenite gneiss, it is 20 x 6 km with several outlying areas and is oriented parallel to the trend of the surrounding paragneisses.

Corundum was formerly mined from the area, also detailed investigation of the radioactive minerals of which 16 are tabulated, including betafite, uraninite and monazite (Cooper & Bloomfield 1961).
