The mine is about 5 kilometres south-east of Meekatharra, and 3 kilometres south of the Phar Lap mine. It is presently marked by a small abandoned open pit developed in the 1980's and 1990's. The State Mining Engineer visited in 1910, stating prospectors had just found floaters at the site. He noted two old shafts near the location, and another by Enright and party to the north-east on the side of a hill from which 8 tonnes of ore had been obtained at 17 dwt/t. Globe GML 912N. 24 acres.

The prospectors who found the alluvial gold were G. Wilson and G. Gibson. 200 acres was pegged but work was only done on the Globe, Globe Extended and Shipmate leases. The Globe mine was twice under option, then in 1912 the owners sank a shaft to 70 feet and cut the reef. The shaft was continued down to at least 120 feet. A second shaft was sunk to 80 feet.

There was initially four Geraldton prospectors in the syndicate. Weston (maybe Wilson?) and Gibson wished to keep sampling the property, but Burt and Speed wished to progress to mining. The latter two bought out the former two in 1914. The Bullfinch Company took an option to test the deposit. Crushings are reported from 1910 to 1913, then dry up. One problem is the ore was being carted several hundred kilometres to the Great Fingal battery at Day Dawn, and once the initial high grade ore had been crushed, there was no profit in the low grade ore left. The last crushing in 1913 was by new owners or tributors Smith, Coombes and party.

Adelaide based Bright Hope Company had an option over the mine in 1933. The General Options Company secured an option over the mine and nearby Phar Lap in 1934. They conducted some exploration. The mine is owned by D. Rinaldi and E. Gray in the late 1930's. They constructed a three head stamp mill, and some mining took place.

The rocks are black schist, with the occasional small barren quartz stringers in it. The ore at the main workings are quartz veins of various dips carrying gold, and much fuchsite. The Soklich fuchsite specimen mine is somewhere near here.
