Said to be approximately 5 kilometres south south-west of the Kyarra gold mine, on level ground and under 20 feet of cement. This was a term used on the Western Australian goldfields for an upper layer of hardened clay. The mine was active over four separate periods.
It was first found June 1908 by J. Woodhouse, when shooting kangaroos, and instead stumbled onto a rich area of gold floaters (nuggets) on the surface. Alternatively, another to lay claim to the discovery was Phillips and party. GML 797N. At least eight leases were almost immediately pegged in the area. None were held for more than two years. In 1913, four leases including Kyarra View and others are active. The area was prospected in 1915.
The ground resembles that found at Kyarra. The lode strikes north-south, dips west at a slight angle. In the veins near the shear planes, thin leaves of gold is found. The veins are parallel to the shear planes. The quartz is glassy, occasionally blue, with little iron staining. The quartz frequently shows serpentine and sericite scales. No 3 shaft showed quartz stringers containing small tourmaline needles. The gold was found in short chutes, and rarely wider veins.
