The Salt Creek prospect is within the Plumridge Lakes Nature Reserve. The lakes are a series of salt-pans, with the deposit just west of the north-south trending section of the lake system. The reserve is within the Great Victoria Desert, approximately 400 kilometres north-east of Kalgoorlie.
The deposit is part of the Salt Creek Complex, hosting nickel, copper and PGE's. It is a 150 kilometre long belt of intermediate mafic intrusions with little or no outcropping.
One drill hole at the named prospect, by the Independence Group, was 4 metres at 5.1% Ni, 2.5% Cu, 3.5 g/t Pt, 4.7 g/t Pd, 1.6 g/t gold and 97 g/t silver. However nearby drill holes only found anomalous nickel and copper.
