Chrysotile occurs in a highly fractured serpentinised olivine embedded in labradorite feldspar. The fibres are parallel to the walls, and are hard and stained, not soft and woolly. Massive serpentine and antigorite occurs with the chrysotile. Biotite is present in the dumps and talc specimens are rare. Quartz reefs in the area contain chalcopyrite, crystals and aggregates of axinite, green stained rocks (malachite?), and green hornblende aggregates.

Described as 700 metres along the Rex Mine track from its junction with the Disputed Mine base camp track. Walk downstream along a minor creek, possibly choked with bushes, and after 15 minutes is a band of gneiss containing garnets to 3 cms with well formed faces. Follow the creek through numerous bends until a ridge is reached, although no distance is mentioned. The diggings are west (?) of the creek, along both flanks of the ridge.

The Mindat map is based on a Bonzle listing for the 'Disputed Creek Mine', which to a point matches the access description above. A small pit can be seen.

The location is consistent with that indicated in Thompson.

While the description of the chrysotile indicates the material is hard, please be aware fibrous varieties (should they be found here), are very dangerous to health.
