Historic gold mine.
The main reef is called Jupiter, which branches north-east from the Hague Smith Reef, dipping south-east at high angles, and is up to 40 feet wide.
The area was mined by the Souvenir Gold Mining Company 1890-1896, Greymouth Syndicate 1893-1908, Anchor Syndicate 1897-1899, Ethel Reefs Company 1899-1903, Daisy Syndicate 1906-1908, totaling 2166 tonnes of ore extracted for 1391 ounces of gold.
The quartz contained pyrite, with isolated patches of sphalerite, gold, and stibnite.
