The Sirawai deposit is located in pre-Cenozoic basement rocks of primarily muscovite–quartz schist and phyllite, overlaid by thick Miocene clastic and carbonate formations with partly Plio–Pleistocene volcanic rocks that consist of Plio–Pleistocene Mt. Maria volcanics, late Miocene Vitali diorite and the Curuan Formation, and the early to middle Miocene Anungan Formation. Several hydrothermal alteration zones are developed in and around the deposit.
