Mückenberg

Komáří hůrka (German: Mückenberg) is one of the highest mountains in the Eastern Ore Mountains on the territory of the Czech Republic.

Komáří hůrka lies northeast of Krupka (Graupen) and southeast of Cínovec (Böhmisch Zinnwald) immediately on the steepest section of the Ore Mountain escarpment. As a result, it is a good observation point, from which there are views in almost all directions of the compass. In addition, the characteristic appearance of a fault-block mountain range with its steep escarpment falling away to the south is very clearly seen from this part of the Ore Mountains.

Ancient workings on a greisen lens on Komárí Vízka hill (Mückenberg). The greisen body was initially explored through open cuts, some of them started in the late 14th century. The large open cut ('Pinge') near the summit of the hill, which is now largely overgrown, was begun in the late 15th century.
The Mückenberg district has a similar character to the neighboring
the Steinknochen district, on whose northern edge it adjoins.
The entire area above the road from Horní Krupka
towards Komáří hůrce it is filled with a large amount
residues after the mining of tin and copper ores. Extraction
was concentrated according to the arrangement of surface relics
especially on NE–SW direction veins. In the whole space se
he finds dozens of mounds, tunnels and pinnacles in the places of the old
shafts (e.g. Wilhelm, Münzer, Dittrich, Manschwedus,
Hörl, Kreuz, Nikolai, Petri, Bergmeister).
