Carbonatite dikes occupy 2 N-S-trending areas c. 1.5 km apart, with a minor intermediate area, the more northerly area extending over c. 1 km and the southerly over c. 700m (coordinates for north orebody). The dikes range from 15 to 50 m in thickness and fenitize the Precambrian biotite and granitic gneisses that they cut.

The carbonatite complex preserved in the Hongcheon area of the central part of Gyeonggi Massif occurs as igneous intrusions that produced fenite alteration halos in the Paleoproterozoic (ca. 1830 Ma) hornblende-biotite basement gneisses. The NS-trending carbonatite complex extends for ∼ 2.5 km and is 20–50 m wide. we classify areas with more than 80% dolomite as dolomite carbonatite (DC). In areas where carbonates (Ca or Mg) constitute less than 80% and magnetite or phosphate are abundant, these parts of the rock body are defined as magnetite (MS) or phosphate (PS) segments, respectively. The DC, MS, and PS units constitute approximately 10%, 60%, and 30% respectively of the total exposed area. More details are provided in the results and discussion sections of this study.
