The minerals listed here have been identified near the Mount Vernon homestead.

One specimen is described as consisting of a fibrous bluish-white mineral with a white crust. The white crust was separated and both fractions analysed. Each fraction was water soluble. The analyses indicate that the white crust is epsomite and the bluish-white fraction is a mixture of epsomite and pickeringite.

The Simpson Mineral Collection of the Western Australian Museum contains specimens (including MDC 3460) from this location. Minerals identified in these specimens by the Western Australian Government Chemical Laboratories include variscite, jarosite, paratacamite, epsomite, pickeringite, and quartz.
