Located on Niewhoudts Naauwte 119 farm 11 km southeast of Bitterfontein. A size 3 kaolin deposit that formed as a result of residual weathering of coarse-grained, quartzofeldspathic gneiss of the Landplaas Gneiss. The orebody is 250m x 130m in areal extent and has an average thickness of 10m with a maximum thickness of 30m.
The presence of a major west-trending fault on the northern side of the deposit allowed good circulation of groundwater, thereby enhancing the kaolinisation process. The kaolinitic clay is white near surface, but becomes pink, yellow and red with increasing depth (Cole, 2013).
