Wildcat Mound is a mound of Cambrian Sandstone showing spectacular mottling - probably denoting skolithus burrows - which allowed ground water precipitation of iron oxides along the more porous zones. These pillars and mounds of Cambrian sandstone stood as islands in the bed of Glacial Lake Wisconsin during the Pleistocene.
As it is within a county park, collecting is not allowed.
