Bauxite deposit is located in the Anhua syncline. The strata exposed in the synclinal area contain Precambrian clastic rocks, slate, shale, and carbonate rocks; Cambrian siltstone and shale; Devonian clastic rocks and dolomite; Carboniferous carbonate rocks with intercalated siltstone and shale; Permian bauxite; bauxitic claystone, claystone, dolomite, and limestone; and Triassic to Jurassic clastic rocks.
The Daoshitou Formation in Central Yunnan overlies the remanent or weathered limestones and is overlain by Early Permian carbonates. This formation is extensively distributed across Yuxi and Kunming cities in Central Yunnan, which have thicknesses varying from 5–25 m.. This stratum is primarily composed of pisolitic/oolitic bauxitic claystone, bauxitic claystone, clayey bauxite, carbonaceous claystone, and ferritic claystone. The Li-rich rocks include bauxitic claystone, pisolitic/oolitic bauxitic claystone, and a small amount of clayey bauxite. The thickness of Li-rich claystone typically ranges from 1–9 m, and its Li content varies between 560–6800 ppm.
