Type:
Köppen climate type:
An iron prospect on the south side of Buckhorn Mountain. The ore occurred in the beds of quartzite and argillite. It was developed by a 350' adit, some shallow shafts, and trenches.
Commodity: Only a few tons magnetite
Deposit: Disseminated ore minerals in qtzite and argillite.
Development: Shafts, adit, and two trenches. Magnetic surveys in 1945 and 1960 did not disclose any major anomalies.
Geology: Intrusive rocks could underlie the site at shallo W depths, and provide a contact metamorphic environment at their contact with the overlying argillite and quartzite. Thus, additional mineralization could occur at deeper depths. ; geol.desc: syenite nearby
Rock formation(s): Buckhorn Mtn Pluton
Spectacle
Ore(s): Near Syenite Contact
