On March 29, 2025, I went on a hiking trip with friends. We visited a mountain located on the northern slope of the Qinling Range, about 7 kilometers south of downtown Baoji. The entrance to the mountain is at an elevation of 862 meters, and the trail leading up is nearly straight. It takes about 40 minutes to reach the 1109-meter-high summit, where a Taoist temple stands.

Along the trail to the summit, we found abundant weathered and fragmented granite outcrops. The rock here is biotite granite with medium- to fine-grained texture, formed during the late Yanshanian period.

Near the summit, some white aragonite fragments were scattered along the road. Some of them showed radiating fibrous structures. On a descending path behind the summit, we discovered an exposed aragonite body. At first, I mistook them for strontianite, as some specimens I collected exhibited remarkable white to blue fluorescence under long-wave UV light, along with green phosphorescence. However, after testing, I confirmed that they were indeed aragonite.
