Discovered in 2008, it has proven reserves of around 7 t of gold with a grade of 5.14 g/t, approximately 100 t of silver with a grade of 68 g/t, and more than 20,000 t lead with a grade of 1.45 %. The deposit’s country rocks are predominantly metamorphosed marine volcanic-sedimentary rocks of the Ordovician Danfeng Group, which are stratigraphically divided into the Muqitan and Heiwanli Formations in ascending order. The Liushaogou deposit consists of fourteen orebodies, with the majority of gold reserves hosted in four largest orebodies (VI-5, VI-6, VII-1 and VIII-3). Gold predominantly occurs in quartz veins in the Liushaogou deposit. The occurrence of these auriferous quartz veins is strictly constrained by NNE- and NNW-striking brittle faults, thus resulting in a variation in the morphology of the orebodies in accordance with the geometric feature of the faults. A few economic orebodies are also hosted in the NE-striking fault. The VIII-3 is the largest gold orebody, containing over 2 t of gold at an average grade of 3.87 g/t. It dips to east at an angle of 50-75° (Fig. 3), and exhibits a variable thickness of 0.45–4.35 m (with an average of 1.79 m), a strike length of about 740 m, and a vertical extension of over 300 m. The hydrothermal mineralization processes at the Liushaogou deposit can be categorized into five sequential stages: barren quartz (stage I), pyrite-quartz (stage II), quartz-pyrite (stage III), quartz-polymetallic sulfides (stage IV), and quartz-carbonate (stage V).
