The exposed strata in the study area mainly consist of the Archean-Paleoproterozoic Beidahe Group and the Ordovician Koumenzi Formation, followed by the Ordovician Yaomoshan Formation, the Silurian Upper Quannaogou Formation, the Hanxia Formation, and the Lower Cretaceous Xiagou Formation. Five ultrabasic rock bodies are exposed in the study area, intruding as dikes and apophyses into the Archean-Paleoproterozoic Beidahe Group biotite-quartz schist. The surface exposures of the rock bodies range from 280 to 810 m in length and 20 to 120 m in width, generally trending NWW with dips of 350°-60° and inclinations of 40°-60°. Through trenching and drilling verification, five nickel ore bodies have been preliminarily delineated, accompanied by cobalt and platinum group elements. The ore bodies occur within the serpentinite (lherzolite) phase of the ultrabasic rocks. Boreholes near the Rock Body No. 3 revealed that the nickel ore bodies occur as stratiform-like and lenticular bodies, with attitudes consistent with that of the ultrabasic rock mass. The nickel ore bodies measure 80 to 660 m in length, 1.44 to 27.55 m in thickness, with a maximum controlled oblique depth of 200 m. The average grade of nickel ore bodies ranges from 0.30% to 0.413%, accompanied by cobalt and platinum group elements.
