The exposed strata in the Xiaozhangzigou Cu-polymetallic deposit predominantly consist of low-grade metamorphic rocks of the Paleoproterozoic Liaohe Group and volcaniclastic rocks of the Cretaceous Yixian Formation. Fault structures are well developed, primarily trending NE and NW. The magmatic rocks are compositionally complex, encompassing the Neoarchean Suizhong migmatitic granite, Yanshanian granitic hypabyssal intrusions, as well as various dyke and subvolcanic rocks; the migmatitic granite outcrops extensively, accounting for over 90% of the magmatic exposures. Mineralization in the district occurred during the Late Yanshanian period, coeval with the regional Early Cretaceous large-scale metallogenic event, and developed within an extensional tectonic setting in response to the subduction of the Paleo-Pacific plate. Wall-rock alteration is diverse, mainly including silicification, chloritization, sericitization, argillization, and carbonatization, with chloritization and argillization being the most intense and pervasive. Two Cu-polymetallic mineralization zones have been delineated in the district, both hosted within the deep-seated, intensely silicified granite porphyry, with country rocks comprising migmatitic granite and rhyolitic tuff.
