The exposed stratigraphy at the Huakun deposit includes, from oldest to youngest, Mesoproterozoic Jixian System dolomitic limestone, Cambrian silty shale, Ordovician dolomitic limestone, Cretaceous Yixian Formation tuff, and Quaternary cover. The district is highly faulted; a “lotus-shaped” rotational shear zone and multiple NNE- and NW-trending faults provided primary conduits for ore-forming fluids. Intermediate-felsic magmatism is widespread, primarily represented by the Huakun complex (granodiorite porphyry and quartz diorite) and various Yanshanian dikes (e.g., diabase and felsic porphyries). Mesozoic mineralization occurred in multiple stages: early contact metasomatism followed by late-stage fracture-filling and replacement along tensional faults. Wall-rock alteration shows multi-stage overprinting, mainly comprising serpentinization, carbonatization, chloritization, skarnization, sericitization, silicification, and limonitization. Serpentinization and skarnization are closely related to mineralization. Serpentine occurs mainly as antigorite, forming flaky or fibrous aggregates. The 48 delineated Cu-polymetallic orebodies occur as veins, lenses, or stratoid bodies concentrated along the granodiorite porphyry-dolomitic limestone contact.
