An ancient lead mine, with reports of it having worked during the mid 18th century. An exceptional tabular cerussite crystal from Logaulas Mine is displayed at the Natural History Museum, London.

The mine has 2 distinct localities. Part is within the village of Pont-rhyd-y-groes where there are several tips on private ground both adjacent to the water wheel and downslope of the wheel to the river. The second part lies alongside the small side road approximately 700m south-east of the village.

This second location stretches along the side of the road for about 700m and has 2 distinct parts. In the western section a long open work up to 5m deep runs parallel to the road. In places a quartz reef is exposed containing isolated nodes of galena. On a high point beside the open work 4 metal posts mark an open shaft and there are 3 more unfenced shafts in the level area between the open work and rising hillside. Galena where it is found here occurs as massive lumps and veins, one piece up to 30mm thick between slate which exhibits surface markings consistent with slickensides.

The eastern section is set within a shallow valley beside the road. Again there are a number of shafts some filled and some open the largest hidden amongst the trees at the bend in the road has been used as a rubbish tip. A level area was possibly a dressing floor though it may also have a far more modern origin. The shaft on the slope beyond this level area is set in a level bench beside a tip of apparently crushed sand and has the remains of pumping rods or a ladderway within it. In turn the level area as been partly excavated along a fence line and there are numerous pieces of (fault?) breccia comprising angular grey rock cemented by pods of galena, strikingly different to the ore seen only 300m away apparently along the strike of the same lode. Dec. 2020.

As a note of caution both parts of the site are traversed by public footpaths but fencing is only a token gesture and some of the shafts are estimated at 30 - 40m deep.
