Zoetwater 774 Farm. Calcite ("Iceland spar") was commercially mined in the Calvinia district and is known to occur on the farms Kopjes Kraal and Bloedzuigerfontein. It is associated with prehnite. The source of both the calcite and prehnite is realted to Jurassic age dolerite that has intruded into the surrounding sedimentary rocks.
