Intermittently worked magnesite mine/quarry (currently only in summer), at an altitude of 1430-1700 m; started in 1972. The ore consists of either magnesite or dolomite.
Located south of Hochfilzen.
An adjacent, inactive mine/quarry on the opposite mountain slope to the east ("Bürglkopf", "Am Bürgl") belongs to a different ore lens of the same deposit; it was started in 1957(?) and abandoned around 1972.
Some mineral labels give the locality as "Hochfilzen".
Owned by RHI Magnesita (formerly RHI AG, Veitsch Radex GmbH & Co).
Note on the published mineral photos: The "magnesite with yellow dolomite crust" shown on p. 15 of Hajek et al. (2011) is in fact an Fe-bearing dolomite with a thin epitaxial coating of Fe-rich dolomite (U. Kolitsch, SXRD-analysis).
