Name(s) in local language(s):
Tschingl, Feichten, Kaunertal, Nordtirol, Tirol, Österreich
Ancient copper mine, located SE of Feichten.
Metamorphosed pre-alpidic synsedimentary sulphide mineralisation hosted in phyllite and quartz. The ore consists of chalcopyrite, pyrite and rare other ore minerals including arsenopyrite.
A well-done mining trail for tourists ("Knappensteig", established in 2015) leads from Feichten to two adits: the Lower Tschingl adit ('Unterer Tschinglstollen'; (semi-)closed after a few metres) and the Intermedite Tschingl adit ('Mittlerer Tschinglstollen'; losed after about 20 metres). Apparently there were three adits, but the highest .
About 20 m higher than the Mittlerer Tschinglstollen lies a reconstructed miners' hut ('Knappenhütte') and, a few metres next to it, a small old ore-rich dump ('Scheidhalde') where children can use a hammer to split ore-containing rusty rocks.
