Large amounts of apatite was reported on the dumps in the 1950's, although it is unclear if the sources are referring to Lindsay 1 or Lindsay mines, which are separated by about one kilometre. The pegmatites have three distinct vertical zones, being a hanging wall with large quantities of mica, a central massive feldspar, and lastly a footwall of massive white quartz. The pegmatites contain muscovite and biotite, associated with beryl, apatite, schorl and garnet.
