My whole LJ is displaying in another language for some reason?
Dream-world last night was WEIRD. So so so weird.
First, my rats figured out how to take apart their cage and got out. (I've had rattie escape dreams many times before, that part's not so weird.) When I tried to put the cage back together, Doris bit me. I reacted by saying "ouch!" before realizing that it didn't actually hurt-- so I let her do it again, and in the absence of pain I realized I must be dreaming. I breathed a sigh of relief when my rats started levitating. Ok, definitely dream-rats.
Next, I was behind an abandoned-looking house in "Brightmoor" (it didn't look like REAL Brightmoor, of course, but in my head that's where I was) at sundown, and for some reason I couldn't open my eyes more than halfway. That's been happening lately-- my speed, my vision, or my speech will be super delayed or dysfunctional in my dreams. It's incredibly annoying... anyway, I was naked and half-blind and I fell into a bog, at which point I became terrified because 1. leeches and 2. mosquitoes were going to eat me alive the second I stepped out of the water. Upon reflection it's almost comical that I had a legit mosquito-related nightmare about that neighborhood-- it's not the only reason I don't live there anymore, but goddamn, it definitely played a part!! I have never experienced mosquitoes that bad ANYWHERE else, including deep-woods northern Michigan. Ugh. Never ever.
Then I had another dream-- maybe it was a dicey continuation of the Brightmoor dream-- I was exploring a big abandoned mansion with friends, it was still dusk and I was still having some vision trouble. All of a sudden this teenage boy appears out of nowhere and engages us in conversation- and he's polite, but giving off this oddly sinister vibe that really puts me on edge, and then I realize: the guy is a ghost, and no one else has recognized it yet. Here's where it gets wonky. I woke up, realized with relief that it was just a nightmare... then returned to the mansion and had freaky deja vu as the same exact sequence of events repeated itself-- and when the ghost emerged, I freaked out and tried to warn the others because I was convinced that I'd had a dream-premonition and now this was the real thing, and we were all in danger.
Then I woke up for real, and after a second of reality-testing (just to be sure) I snuggled into my girlfriend and her cat and tried to shake off the creepiness. It didn't work very well. I'm pretty sure I woke up after each of those three dreams, actually-- I just couldn't get my body to settle for some reason.
Jeez, what's in the water?? I never remember my dreams this often... it's been almost every night lately.
