ETA: All Premiering vids are now online! My Vienna Teng vidshow premiered this morning at FanworksCon, and I think it went over really well!
Here is the official finalized playlist with links! Everything except one of the Premieres is online already, and I'll update this post when the second one goes up as well.*
If you have an attending or digital membership to the con (
digital memberships are still available for $30 US) you can stream the entire vid show including the premieres on
the Fanworks Con website.
Forever thanks to
izzybeth for helping me sort the playlist into a good order, which is a thing I am
terrible at.
1:
Landsailor by ryfkah - Legend of Korra [link goes to stream or download on the vidder's dreamwidth]
There's a moment in this vid, on the line "but there's a storm outside your door // and I'm a child no more" when everything shifts and I seriously bounce and flail and become incoherent
every time I watch it because it's so perfectly done.
2.
Never Look Away by Scribe - A Midsummer Night's Dream (BBC) [link goes to stream or download on the AO3]
So, Russell T. Davies made A Midsummer Night's Dream with fascists, and it is
exactly as bonkers as that makes it sound. Also, very, very queer, while still being a direct reading of the text rather than an adaptation.
3.
In the 99 by Starlady - Batman (Nolanverse movies) [link goes to stream and download on the vidder's dreamwidth]
***PREMIERE***Quoth the vidder, "every billionaire is a policy failure." Or, as
staranise said when we watched a draft together, "Because Gotham is the hero Gotham City needs."
4.
Drought by kaydeefalls - Mad Max: Fury Road [link goes to stream or download on the AO3]
I don't have coherent words about this vid, I have a lot of pointing and flailing and saying, "THAT, omg THAT." This vid distills everything that's awesome about Fury Road down to 3 1/2 perfect minutes.
5.
Hope on Fire by shati - Queen Seondeok [link goes to stream or download on the vidder's dreamwidth]
I have never seen this source and I probably never will because I'm terrible at actually watching things, but if you love F/F and foeyay and truly
ridiculous amounts of eye-fucking, this vid is for you.
6.
Close to Home by usuallyhats - Orphan Black [link goes to stream or download on the AO3]
"We won't be sold // any song from your book of lies // language we don't recognize as part of our own" - I'm not sure there's a better summation of Orphan Black then that.
Big content warning here for suicide. Even though I know it's coming I still jump and recoil every time.
7.
Stray Italian Greyhound by shinyalice - Professor Marston and the Wonder Women [link goes to stream and download on the AO3]
Resisting love and love as an act of resistance and *insert incoherent full-body flailing here*
8.
Waking Hour by Jay Naling/Koopiskeva - Beyond the Clouds (The Place Promised in Our Early Days) [link goes to stream on youtube.]
I do not know this source AT ALL, but
pi linked this vid in my post asking for Vienna Teng vid recs and it just blew me away. It's so fucking gorgeous and it tells such a clear story even to someone who knows literally nothing about the source.
9.
Valinor (Let Me Go) by Ari - Lord of the Rings [link goes to stream and download on the AO3]
Ari vids their Silmarillion feels. I don't even
have Lord of the Rings feels, let alone
Silmarillion feels, and yet apparently I do, because this vid stabs me right in them repeatedly.
And this is the beginning of the part of the playlist Marna referred to as "emotional terrorism," so content warning for excessive feels from here on out.
10.
Soon Love Soon by Rhea314 - Sense8 [link goes to stream and download on AO3]
***PREMIERE***I am
still not capable of coherence about this vid, but I kind of wish I could film myself watching it and send it to Rhea as a comment. So. Much. Flailing. There's a moment on "we will know that the fate of one is the fate of all" where I am overcome with so much emotion I literally can't keep myself still. And this happens
every single time I watch it.
11.
Level Up by such_heights - Buffy the Vampire Slayer [link goes to stream and download on vidder's dreamwidth]
There are some moments in this vid where the cutting is so precise, the juxtaposition of scenes from different periods in canon so perfect, that all I can do is point at the screen and shout, "THAT. OMG THAT." Usually I even manage to keep the shouting inside my head while the vid's still playing, but it always comes out eventually.
12.
Halfway Out of the Dark by purplefringe - Doctor Who [link goes to stream and download on the vidder's dreamwidth]
This vid made me cry the first time I watched it and it
still makes me cry every time I rewatch it. It's like it just reaches down into my soul and
pulls and all my Doctor Who feels come pouring out.
Some time next week I'll make a post of all my favourite Vienna Teng vids that
didn't make it into this show due to time constraints or theme or only having one vid per vidder, but I want to let this show stand on it's own for a bit first.
Thank you so much to all the vidders, and to everybody who recced me vids when I asked, and also to
purplefringe for having a
spreadsheet of Vienna Teng vids. I love you all.
