Hi guys!

Some time ago I stopped posting in the mshathvri journal. A short while later I formed the bettybaker journal and have been using it consistently since. I can't really explain why this worked for me; you could think of it as a shedding of the skin and a wiggle into a new mindset. If you're interested in my online comings and goings, you're more than welcome to visit me there.

So, I have sort of a love affair with perfume. I have a row of more-than-ten and fewer-than-twenty perfume bottles in my bathroom, and when I feel like indulging my "wanna be pretty" side, I dab some on.

The problem is, some of my perfumes make me sneeze, and others make Fallen42 sneeze; my mother also has a tendancy to sneeze around certain perfumes too.

I love the way the offending sneezing-type perfumes smell, but I can't keep them. I'd hate to see them go to waste. Also, perfume tends to fall on the more-expensive-than-I-care-for side of things, so obtaining new perfumes via merchants isn't feasible.

So, who's up for a perfume swap? If you've got some perfumes that you never use, wanna come and visit with me and sniff and smell and trade scents? I could set up a card table and some folding chairs out in my back yard (for ventilation purposes) and we could make an evening or afternoon of it if there's enough interest- or you could just come and see me privately, I guess.

The coup in Thailand is one of the most mysterious news stories I've ever witnessed. This morning, looking for one thing in particular, I read stories here and here, searching for an explanation. Why was Thaksin Shinawatra deposed? This Wiki artcle tells me that Thaksin was perhaps guilty of nepotism, but it doesn't look like (and I may have overlooked something glaring and obvious) he was guilty of a war in Iraq mass murder or anything.


Further, the Information Ministry of Thailand has shushed the media and banned meetings by political parties AND barred the formation of new parties.


The coup was apparently bloodless (how the hell is a coup bloodless?), and without prompting from the monarch of Thailand (yeah, right). The reasons for it are thin: the former prime minister has been accused of abuse of power and corruption, but those seem like pretty standard accusations to me, and I'd like to see some specificity. My question for Thailand's military leaders is this: What gives?

Spam42 and Kerowyn_16 gifted me with a golden pig yesterday, and I am about to slaughter and eat it. It's about two inches long and one inch wide, so it's a snack-sized pig.

What's funnier is the Engrish on the ingredients label. My pig contains:

Ingredient Bleached & Ebriche Flour, Floure, Sugar., Cottonseed Oil, Egg, Red Bean, Species, Food Color (FD&C Yellow#5&$6)

I assume it's a vegetarian pig pastry, but it does claim to include species, so who knows?

YAG will be meeting tonight at the UU Church in Livermore's Tot Green Room to play board games and snack. Some folks are bring a fruit and vegetable platter and lemon tea- I'll have to step up in order to match their contribution. =) If you're up for some Settlers or other brand of board gaming goodness, come on out and join us at 8:00. This coming Friday Monday at 8:00 will be Games Night at YAG. We'll be Settlers of Catan, eating some snacks, and listening to a new mixed CD that my friend Kevin gave to me. I'd love it if all y'all young adults would show up; we'll have the 5-6 player expansion. If you have an interest in gaming with us, sign up below with a snack or drink you'll be bringing.

The YAG and Kontempli are meeting tonight at the UU Church in Livermore at 9:00 and 8:00 respectively. I'll be bringing some drums and a guitar; come and join me with snacks and brain storming ideas!

We all have different modes of operating in our lives; varied facets of our personalities that shimmer like the little fractures in opalescent stones. I not only have different facets to my personality, I have entire array of characters. These intriguing avatars often act through my body without my knowledge. However, through the power of self-awareness and a vast assortment of cunningly named seven-step help books, I have become aware of these trapped angels and demons of my inner child, all caught in various stages of my maturation process.

Further, I have named them.

Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like to introduce to you to Misty, Maureen, Millicent and Moraga. This quartet of extra (or is it intra?) Mshathvris will often post without my knowledge, consent, or awareness; however, during a "family meetingsatanic Hitler-channeling party" they agreed to post using either the italics, bold, underline or strike settings in order to absolve me of responsibility for my/their actions and also to conveniently make a Misty/Maurie/Milly/Maggie post more easily recognizable. This convenient method of operations will not only clarify to you that one of my inner children is posting, it will also satisfy their urge to be seen and recognized.

Each of these four inner goddesses possesses a distinct personality. I can't really articulate the nuances of these four women when I speak as the whole of my sewn together patchwork self,
