So there's this prophecy in my life that I can't ever have exactly what I want for any gift giving occasion. When I do know EXACTLY what I want, and I tell many people, you'd think, my chances would be better.
J'adore perfume: I went around "Smell this. This is J'adore, its Christian Dior. Its 65 dollah. Its available at Macy's and Nordstrom. It would make a nice Xmas gift." Nada. Bought my own damn bottle.
Claddagh Ring:"Look at the photo. Its a Claddagh. I want one, have since I was 5, and my babysitter got one from her boyfriend." Nada, I got it the next year for Xmas, 'cos my boyfriend didn't like the fact that a customer of mine heard this story, and got me one in silver. My boyfriend got me an 18 karat from IRELAND proper.
Tori Amos DVD: in an email, "Pre-order the Tori Amos DVD for Valentine's delivery! Only 24.95!" Instead, I got 75 bucks worth of clothes. 50 bucks worth, did not fit.
However, a few years ago, cashmere was all over Nordstrom's and a stripper friend of mine was named cashmere, and she did this hing with the '50's look with the cardigan and pearls. So I felt her sweater and decided I had to have a top of the line cashmere sweater. Boyfriend A could not choose a color. Boyfriend B could not choose a style. Boyfriend C could not choose a size. Remebmer that Sharon STone scene in the Muse, with the Tiffany boxes? Yeah, that was my life for like, 5 years. Maybe 7. I never bought a gift, I simply gave away from my hoard.
Customers reported similar failings, But here, have some jewels.
ANd I learn, that cashmere is the underbelly of a goat. Even if I ate meat, and wore animal skins, I am not sure I'd want to wear the underbelly of a goat. EEEWWWWW. Mind you, I have *pet* the underbelly of a goat many times.
I will pass this on to Anne rice's page on Facebook. It's already gotten some attention, but some of the people of the page are well off enough to donate as well.
And you've all done a really excellent job with all of them, but it still stings a bit, after my miscarriage, even though I decided not to have any after all.
