a scintilla of time

For this year, I'm going to try participating in a few things to help nurture and maintain habits related to writing and creative practice. We'll see how they feel!

cultivativity | Welcome & FAQ post

This is a space for cultivating creativity.

This is not set up as a challenge, as that implies competition or accountability to produce something (which are fun activities, and for which there are several other communities available). Rather, this community is organized as a series of modules designed to help build a practice to nurture our creative selves. Do the things you want, ignore the ones that don't.

I've never signed up to GYWO before! I decided to try a Habit Pledge. I chose The Excursionist level, which is writing for 180 days over the year (approx 15 days/month). This feels ambitious but not impossible to me, and I think working towards building a habit of regular writing will be more fruitful for me than monitoring my wordcounts.

I'm also going to try doing Fannish 50 again! "Make fifty posts about topics related to fandom. You may set any theme(s) you wish, or pick random topics for each post." The info & sign-up post for 2026 is here.

I've really been enjoying watching some feel-good TV lately! :D

Legends of Tomorrow
This is a new-to-me show, but it's into its 6th season now. I'm completely charmed that the focus of the show is on a group of time-traveling misfits who screw things up (for the better!). They're delightful. Some of the plot choices are deliciously wild and tropey and I'm into it.

We Are Lady Parts
I watched this recently and loved it! A sitcom about a British punk band made up of Muslim women. There are only 6 episodes, but it's a show (and collection of characters) that totally steals your heart.

Ted Lasso
I love shows about people who are trying to be/do better. It's such a warm and kind-hearted show to watch. (And funny!)

Have you watched any of these shows? Do you have any feel-good TV recs?

Also, if you have any fanworks recs for any of these shows, especially fic and art (or icons!), I'll happily accept them. I'm open to gen and a lot of different ships, so feel free to share your favourites.

For writing updates, I picked up and wrote a pinch hit (for an exchange that hasn't revealed yet) and I'm pleased to have kept some of my writing momentum going! I also signed up for ficinabox and I'm both nervous and excited (the 10k length makes me nervous, but a great assignment has me excited).

Also! seasonsofdrabbles is a fun-looking drabble community that is currently open for nominations. I was amused to see that someone (not even me!) has nominated Beebo in Legends of Tomorrow.
