Apologies for the lateness of this week's post. We editors are all busy.
I know that many of us here are still handling the lost of the show in different ways, and my personal way is to think of all the crap that didn't happen, but could have given Neptune's proclivities to bring out the worst in people. All of that is to say that this week's fics are all on the side of angst, with some death thrown in for good measure.
Two of my very favorite (and rarely seen) characters on VM consist of the strapping men that make up the Clemmons family. Butters Vincent is quirky, yet lovable (Space elevator, anyone?), and his father, the illustrious vice principal at Neptune High, is even a match for Miss Mars. While left behind when Veronica and Co. went to college, this dynamic duo can never be forgotten. Here are a few of my favorite fics featuring the Clemmons', in minor and major capacities.
This last piece is something a little different. It was written forneptune_online and, to my knowledge, hasn't been posted anywhere else as "fic." I'm linking to the original post in the comm's planning blog, though, in case anyone wants to leave comments.
So maybe you haven't been to jail, but someone you know has, right? I mean, even Veronica's been in jail. Logan has, Weevil has, Vinnie Van Lowe too. In each of these stories, someone - or more than one someone - starts out or ends up in jail. Read and enjoy, and be happy it's not you behind bars.
I must admit, my taste in fic is slightly...different than most. I? Am a crack!fic JUNKIE. Fic where Logan and Veronica go on a date and have a good time? Nice, but not so much my thing. Fic where Logan and Veronica go on a date and are abducted by ALIENS? Now you're talking.
There are many different breeds of crack when it comes to fic, and many different levels. Crack!fic can be straight out humor, or it can place our intrepid heroes in situations that they'd normally never be in. It can focus on the random and the insane, or just pair up characters that would normally never, EVER interact. Whatever the variety, I LOVE IT, and I want to share some of my favorites with you for my guest editing gig :).
Forget the mysteries. Forget the romance. My favorite thing about VM is the banter. Accordingly, my very favorite fics tend to be ones loaded with sparkling witty repartee. Here are some fics with particularly effervescent character voices:
This is my first post here at vm_fic, and I’m afraid I’m already cheating a little bit. See, my particular fic kink is anything pertaining to “An Echolls Family Christmas”. AUs, stories that tie in canonically – it doesn’t matter. If it pertains to AEFC, chances are, I’m going to love it. Thus, I’m going to have to repeat a few stories that have already been recced here in the past, just for the sake of being comprehensive. However, there are some new recs included as well.

To commemorate the end of the first round at 5thingsthat, I thought I would do a rec post involving some of my favorite 5 things fics.
Since these are all things that never happened, all fics just have general show spoilers, unless otherwise indicated. Most also deal with multiple characters, so I'll just be including the "Theme" rather than listing every last character who appears in the 5 scenes.
I don't know about you, but I love seeing the darker side of Neptune and its inhabitants. Here is a collection of some twisted stories that show what might have or could have happened. However, I'm not sure even HBO would air some of these, making me love them even more.
So I was sorting through my memories the other day (where I hide away all the great fanfiction I find for future reference), and I discovered a whole load of S1 fics that - surprisingly enough - hadn't been rec'd within this community yet. I'm planning on 4 posts at the moment - unless a bunch more uncover themselves - so keep your eyes open for more.
Today though? I have a bunch of gen fics to recommend. Sure, some of them may hint towards something shippy, but there's nothing overt in any of them.
