Hello everyone! Just a post to advertise a wonderful community that some of you may be interested in. It's looking really great so far. ^^

From Ashley/rabidreject_taz, owner of our newest affiliate:

A brand new fic-a-thon/monthly themed competition.

Each fic-a-thon will run for a month and each month the writers who join sign up for a category in the monthly theme post.

Writer's are more than welcome to sign up for more than one fic in a specific category or even switch categories for each
piece of fiction.

Winners are gifted with banners stating they won while participants are given banners stating that they joined and managed to
actually write a fic for a category and by the deadline.

The theme for August is "Summer Heat" and fics are due September 1st.

You are required to join to be able to see the themes, fics and to participate.

In preparation for our next competition, I wanted to get everyone's thoughts on what changes have to be made to our format. So far I have one poll question regarding the theme and prompts I give, with a very valid point that I'd like clarification on myself.

Every round I have examples for the theme and prompt, do you think I should continue with that or should I just post the theme and prompt on their own?

Would you like examples for the theme and prompt given?

Yes, they are helpful when I am stuck.
4(44.4%)
Yes. Though, though I don't use them others might..
1(11.1%)
Indecisive. I'm not sure.
3(33.3%)
No, they take away from the challenge.
0(0.0%)
No, they hinder creativity.
1(11.1%)

Other reason:

Do you have any other comments on things that should be changed?

Let me know what you think, people! ^^ Thanks.

Oh, wow. I thought I'd informed everyone of the results ages ago! Shows you how much I suck, really. Clearly someone should have kicked me in the head ages ago, because my memory is apparently really shoddy.

Our winner is known, though. With five votes to nothing, a decisive victory, the winner of our first Writer's Battle Royal and the person who beat out about a dozen other writers is...

*drumroll*

luckystar37 with her 'The Big Picture'!

People really loved your story and you managed to become the winner of our very first competition! Congratulations and well done! ^^

As a prize, I'd like to offer you a story of any lenght and any pairing, to be written by me if you so decide. I'll be making sure someone creates a banner for you so you can display your accomplishment in your profile.

You can be very proud. :)

Also congratulations to our runner-up, reed_bailey, who did a wonderful job throughout this competition!

Thanks to both!

Probably because of lack of advertising on my part, we only have four votes so far. I'll be posting on some wrestling fanfiction sites and communities to try and get us some more votes, but I've decided to postphone the day of results to sunday anyway. Hopefully that'll give people some more time to contribute.

If at all possible, I'd love it if some of our members could advertise as well, because you all know how busy I am right now and how little time I have.

I'm sorry, guys, once I get home - less than three weeks to go! - that should all change. :(

Cheers, everyone.

Think you have what it takes to be in our second Writer's Battle Royal? Here's your chance to sign up! We hope to welcome as many writers as we can and possibly help you improve as a writer. Whether you've participated before or want to give it a try for the first time, everyone's welcome!

Please sign up with the LJ name you want us to use throughout the competition. Also, please remember that if you join up you're expected to write one 1000 word fic every two weeks. It's a bit of a commitment, but lots of fun!

Sign-Up will close on the 1st of September, or later depending on the amount of entrants.

Please check our Profile or Rules Thread for all the Rules and Regulations.

Good luck!

Sign-up is now open! Please leave a comment here if you want to participate.

Good afternoon, everyone!

This is the final round! This round we had two stories submitted, by our two finalists luckystar37 and reed_bailey. This round noone could default. By the end of this round we'll have determined who our winner is.

So, as a result, voters only have two stories to vote on this week!

This is the voting post. Here you'll;

1. Find the instructions on how to vote.
2. Leave your votes and comments.

You have until midnight - New York time - on the 11th of June to vote. (You can find all the times in earlier posts.)

Please be sure to read these instructions carefully before voting!

Theme: Keep to the Code

There's codes in every thing in life from behavior in the ring to etiquette out of it, and a million things in between

Prompt: Gossip.

Word Count: 1000 word.

Remember, it has to be 1000 words or less!

Deadline: 25th of May at midnight.

( To remind you of the times.Collapse )

Story Submission:

You can either email me the stories - use silawen (at) gmail (dot) com - or message them to me through the LJ message system. (You have 10.000 characters to use, so if it nears the 1000 word mark, it might be better to email it to me.)

Be sure to properly identify your story if you send it through email. (Meaning, add the LJ name you're using for the contest and put 'challenge fic' in the subject.)

Good luck, everyone!

Good evening, folks!

It's time for the results for round 1.05!

In total six people voted and votes ranged from +1 to -1, showing how close this round was! All three stories either received a positive or negative vote.

This round's winner is luckystar37 with her 'Things Change', receiving two positive votes and only one negative. Congratulations and well done! :D

Unfortunately we also had to eliminate someone from the competition. That poor soul was faerielissa with her 'Reluctant Hero', ending the round on -1. I'm really sorry, hun, I hope you had fun playing! Perhaps we'll see you next time. ^^

To the remaining two, I hope you had fun, and good luck in the final round! Be sure to send them in on time (midnight of Sunday the 25th, I believe) and have fun with it. This post is also the place to request your feedback - if you had any. I will send them to you through an LJ message or email.

You are now free to do with your stories as you please. ^^

Thanks, everyone, and good luck!

Following this will be the prompt post.
