Oumjrane-Boukerzia Mining District

Widespread area of many artisanal mines.

Spirifer Minerals Travel report III 2012 – Morocco, part II has a rough map.

Mining activity gearing up according to Horst Burkhard as of January 2012.

It is difficult to assign most specimens to a specific mine or prospect.

The mineralization is expressed in lenticular lode form and is hosted in detritic rocks of sandstone-pelitic nature, structured and deformed during several events of the Hercynian orogeny. The Oumjrane-Boukerzia mining district is subdivided into three domains:

— The Bounhas domain: the most promising ore deposit near Oumjrane village. The main veins are Bounhas, Oumjrane North and Afilou N'Khou. This domain is well-known by previous exploration works and contains the main delineated Copper resources.

— The Riche Merzoug domain: occupies the central part of the mining district of Oumjrane-Boukerzia. The principal lodes are Riche Merzoug and Gara Tibert. This area is mineralized, essentially, in Cu, Fe, Zn, Pb, and Ba.

— The Boukerzia domain: located in the NE of the district. The main lodes are Boukerzia south and Boukerzia north. The potential metal content of this group, to date, is moderate. The lodes in this domain are principally mineralized in Pb, Zn and barite.

"The Oumjrane-Boukerzia mining district is covered by an area oriented NE-SW with 40 km in long and about 10 km in large" [sic].

Alnif is not that close.
