Marine chemical sedimentary baryte deposit, hosted in strata of the Lower Cambrian Niutitang formation. Deposit: SEDEX
Reserves are estimated at 1.09 billion tons (Wei, 1999).
The stratiform barite ores are located above and in conformable contact with the chert layer of the Liuchapo Formation. This deposit exhibits a NE-strike over a minimum length of 20 km and contains more than 250 Mt of ore with an average grade of 85.6 wt% BaSO4. The thickness of barite ores in the range of 0.53 m to 14.64 m. Additionally, the barite ore is noteworthy for its significant zinc enrichment, predominantly exceeding concentrations of 0.6 wt%. The Zn-Pb-Fe sulfide ores, primarily occurring in dolostone, siltstone, and carbonaceous shale of the Doushantuo Formation, exhibit a deep-seated occurrence at the depth of stratiform barite deposit. In a highly restricted exploration area (approximately 2 km2), recorded mineralization shows approximately 0.5 Mt with grades ranging from 0.91 to 10.15 wt% Zn and 1.24 to 1.36 wt% Pb. Sulfide ores are predominantly encountered within cavities or faults, exhibiting replacement textures.
