The Kamoya deposit includes ten orebodies: main, east I ∼ II, north, west, south I ∼ III, central, and deep orebodies, containing 562671 t of Cu (at 1.65 wt%) and 65070 t of Co (at 0.19 wt%). These orebodies are mainly hosted in the Neoproterozoic Mines Subgroup, especially from D. Strat to S.D.S members and are controlled by thrust fault zones. The strata in the Kamoya mainly consist of the Roan Group (R) and the Upper Kundelungu Group (Ks) of the Katanga Supergroup of the Meso-Neoproterozoic. The Roan Group is composed of the R.A.T. Subgroup, Mines Subgroup and the Mwashya Subgroup. The R.A.T. Subgroup (R1) consists primarily of purple-red dolomitic sandstone and light purple-red to gray-green dolomitic conglomerate, interbedded with pink to light gray-green dolomitic siltstone. The thickness typically ranges from 0.3 to 5 m, locally exceeding 10 m. The development of the primary orebodies at Kamoya comprises two stages: The diagenetic stage includes fine-grained disseminated sulfides, predominantly framboidal pyrite (py1), with minor chalcopyrite (ccp1) and sporadic carrollite formed contemporaneously with sediment deposition. Most disseminated chalcopyrite surround and alter framboidal pyrite. The post-diagenetic stage includes tectonically driven hydrothermal activity generating quartz-carbonate vein systems. This stage produced coarse-grained sulfides, mainly chalcopyrite (ccp2), pyrite (py2) and carrollite spatially controlled by veins and alteration. Gangue minerals are dominated by quartz and dolomite.
