Kişladag deposit
Operating gold mine, the largest one in Turkey. Commercial production began in 2006. Owned by Eldorado Gold Corporation.
Located 35 km southwest of the city of Usak, near the village of Gümüskol.
Porphyry-style gold mineralization centred on a series of overlapping sub-volcanic intrusives of quartz-syenite to quartz-monzonite composition. The Kisladag deposit lies in the eroded core of a Miocene stratovolcano complex.
The Kışladaǧ deposit is centered on a set of nested subvolcanic porphyritic intrusions (monzonites and quartz monzonites) that were emplaced through the underlying Menderes metamorphic basement rocks into the base of the Beydaǧı volcanic cover. Five intrusions have been distinguished based on crosscutting relationships: 1, 2 central, 2A, 2 NW, and 3. All the intrusions have a similar mineralogy and are dominated by plagioclase phenocrysts, with subordinate biotite and amphibole phenocrysts. Gold grades in the intrusions roughly decrease over time, such that the early mineralization intrusion 1 is the best mineralized with average Au grades of 0.87 g/t, followed by intrusion 2 central (~0.57 g/t), intrusion 2A (~0.47 g/t), intrusion 2 NW (~0.52 g/t), and finally intrusion 3 (~0.28 g/t Au).
