Paraburdoo Mount Olympus
The Mount Olympus Gold Mine is 60 kilometres south-east of Paraburdoo is part of the Paraburdoo Gold Group. Five deposits were discovered by Sipa in 1996. Across 1998 to 2004, these were developed into five open pits: Mount Olympus, West Olympus, Zeus, Peake, and Waugh.
Altogether the deposits produced 340,000 ounces of gold from 3.2 Mt of ore averaging 3.3 g/t Au. The plant was sold in 2006, and the site largely rehabilitated.
Estimated Reserves as of 2003 was 50,000 ounces, and Resource 92,000 ounces at 2.4 g/t, mainly oxide and transitional material via pit cut backs.
In 2011, Northern Star which owned the Paulsen gold mine in the region purchased the mine site from Sipa. By 2013 the project was on care and maintenance.
Several small deep open pits are scattered across mountainous terrane stretching across 5 kilometres.
