The mine comprises 3 levels, the map reference given is for the Low Level. Owned originally by the Beaumonts and then the Vielle Montagne Zinc Co., the mine was reopened during the 1970's by Mr. E. Richardson and a small gravity dressing plant was erected. However, the separation by chemical means of sphalerite and witherite proved uneconomical, and the operation shut down in 1981.
Surface remains still to be seen (June 2003) include the adit portals and derelict mine buildings and bouse teams. Some representative mineralised material can be found in the dumps at the side of the beck, although very little of specimen quality.
