Köppen climate type:
Sediment‐hosted Zn‐Pb (Ag‐Ba) deposits, sub‐seafloor diagenetic replacement SEDEX‐type deposits. Estimated ore reserves are more than 20 million metric tons, grading 7.4 wt.% of Zn and 2.4 wt.% of Pb. The Zn/(Zn + Pb) ratio in the Irankouh district is usually high, averaging about 0.76.
The Irankuh mineralization is hosted by carbonate rocks (dolostone and limestone) and minor clastic rocks as epigenetic. Mineralization has occurred as breccia, veinlet, open space filling, spotted, disseminated, and replacement (carbonate hosted rock). The mineral assemblages are Fe-rich sphalerite, galena, minor pyrite, Fe- and Mn-rich dolomite, bituminous, ankerite, calcite ± quartz ± barite within carbonate host rocks, whereas Fe-rich sphalerite, galena, pyrite, minor chalcopyrite, low Fe-dolomite, quartz, bituminous, ± barite ± calcite are important primary minerals at clastic host rocks.
