The SMAR 26°S hydrothermal field is located between 25°40′S and 26°35′S on the slow-spreading Mid-Atlantic Ridge and is a sediment-free hydrothermal field mostly floored by unaltered basalt. It was discovered during the Chinese DY22nd cruise and revisited by several expeditions between 2012 and 2020.
