Famous silver mine, closed in 1910. Located 500 m NW of St Andreasberg.
The Samson mine in Sankt Andreasberg is one of the most important mining monuments in Europe and was for a long time one of the deepest mines in the world. From 1521 to 1910, silver ores were mined in Samson.
Today's building ensemble is the last completely preserved mine of the historic Upper Harz ore mining industry. Since 2010, the Samson mine has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Rammelsberg Mine, the Old Town of Goslar and the Upper Harz Water Management.
