W-Series 4 [Varda Space Industries]

W-Series (also called Winnebago) are a series of spacecraft designed by Varda Space Industries, which will spend up to three months in orbit to test space manufacturing technologies. At the end of that mission, a reentry capsule will return to Earth the material produced in orbit.

For the first three missions (W-Series 1, 2 and 3), Varda contracted with Rocket Lab to provide Pioneer spacecrafts as the base for the vehicles. But for later versions, Varda uses an in-house built bus. W-Series 4 is the first one to fly the indigenious bus.

W-Series 4 was launched on 23 June 2025. It appears, that the W-Series 4 capsule did not deorbit as planned and objects were left in a low perigee orbit.

W-Series 5 was launched on 28 November 2025 and successfully returned to Koonibba range, Australia, on 29 January2026.

W-Series 6 was launched in March 2026 and successfully returned to Koonibba range, Australia, on 19 May 2026.
