NameP: Charley or Solace, whichever you choose.

Age: 20

Location: Tampa, Florida.

About Me: I'm turnging 21 next month, someone who likes to teach themselves random things like playing the ukulele and crochet, multiple, asexual, mentally ill, legally blind, a cat lover, an addict to reading, a future podcaster and possible voice recorder in general, polyamorous, a coffee junkie, a lover of questions, gender fluid and a fan of putting pen to paper, even if it's just for writing quotes down.

About My Journal: It's mostly real life stuff with scattered bits of writing. More writing is starting to happen now that I am closer to NaNo and I am trying to write five hundred words a day. I make occasional advertisements to both my Tumblr, where a lot of random prompt writing happens and I am starting to write for ti8ps every month, even though that doesn't bring in much money. Beyond that, it really is just a random hodgepodge of things.
I should also note that I do write fanfiction, mostly in White Collar and Sherlock fandom right now but I have written in Doctor Who and Slings and Arrows and a few other things. But I am focusing more on my original work right now, though I am far from abandoning my fanfic.

What I Write: I'm starting to fall under that category of modern fairytales or something kind of like mythpunk. I write urban fantasy too though and I love personifying tings like the days of the week and the months of the year. Beyond that, I do occasionally write things that involve BDSM themes and things that involve polyamorous relationships, though I rarely drift into the realm of erotica. I also like slice-of-life fiction which makes me really, really happy, even though I don't do as much of it as I would like.
a
What I Don't Write: Erotica is the only thing I don't really write and I think that's about it. Even then, I have a book that I want to write where half the interludes are going to be erotic pieces, so I can't even say that. I'm willing to try anything 9nce.

What I Read: Whatever strikes me as interesting, honestly. I lean towards fantasy but I am trying to branch out because I want to be a more well rounded reader, as I think that's very important to being a well developed writer. I do have an affinity for classics as well.

What I Don't Read (not a terribly useful section as it is always subject to change): That depends on the individual book, honestly. It really depends on how a writer tackles a situation. If I find that they do it poorly, then I won't read it. If they do it well, I will read it because I am interested in seeing how well it's done. Beyond that, I don't really read erotic that much but as i said, I am branching out.

Would I be willing to read over something of yours: Probably, though I am horrible at catching grammar and spelling. I will happily read and give my opinion on something though, even if it's "I'm sorry, I just could not get through this."

What Are You Looking For: People to commiserate join me in in the fun that is the writing process. I like talking about writing with people and I like hearing what they have to say. *IK like sharing my work with other people who know what it's like to sit there and try and put words together and know how hard that sometimes is. I want people around who I can watch create wonderful things and will let me cher them on.

Basically, I just want writerfriends, honestly. Nothing more than that.

Name: Maximilian

Age: 20

Location: London, UK

About Me:
I'm Max. Currently unemployed and unstable, which makes for a lot of spare time and lot of creativity. I like to volunteer and I'm hoping to become a social worker. I'm a metalhead, and an animal lover, and an internet nerd.

About My Journal:
I use it to organize my thoughts. It's a very personal journal, in which I write about my day and share photos and stories. It's a new LJ (although I'm not new to LJ myself) so I don't have much of my writing there yet but I'll be sharing more in the near future.

What I Write:
Horror, in short. Common themes of mine include dreams and nightmares, alternate realities, philosophy, and insanity. I have a few main stories that I'm working on, and I enjoy writing short pieces and poetry.

What I Read:
Again, I enjoy horror and thriller novels. Dean Koontz is my all-time favourite author. I'm also a huge fan of Stephen King, Poppy Z Brite, John Saul, and Clive Barker. The sort of fiction I read and the sort I write is very parallel.

Could I Edit Someone's Work:
I am a terrible editor. But I'm happy to leave feedback and criticism.

What I'm Looking For:
Friends with similar literary interests. I don't have many friends both online and offline who share my interest in horror writing so I'd love to meet some fellow fans of macabre.

Do you ever feel like you're a tree falling in a forest, wondering if you make a sound when no one is around to hear you? That's sort of how I feel right now about writing. So let's make some noise! Words are meant to be shared, aren't they?

What I write: I write something along the lines of cross-genre character-based multi-narrative introspective episodic flash fiction. That's really just fancy mumbo-jumbo for "I write short fiction involving the same two characters in different settings and genres." I just liked all the kooky words.

Here is a quick introduction to my two characters, Tanim and Daren, and descriptions of my tags to give you an idea of what I write about.

What I don't write/read: Fan-fiction. Other than that, I'm fairly open.

What I read: Livejournal-wise, I'll read anything someone puts love and effort into. Literature-wise, my favorite authors are Ray Bradbury, Ellen Kushner, Roger Zelazny, Joe Hill, Neil Gaiman, and Carol Berg.

My Journal: My journal is used purely for writing. I update frequently, but my pieces are usually very short. Everything is organized by tags and is pretty easy to navigate.

What I'm Looking For: Writers who need readers; readers who need writers. I'm looking for people who are eager to share their work and who in turn want to get to know mine. I'd prefer people who have journals entirely (or at least mostly) devoted to their writing, versus daily life type journals. Basically, I'm looking for friends!

Age: 21

About my journal: It’s random nonsensical crap about my boring life and the fandoms I enjoy making fun of. Also within it I talk entirely too much about RPing, memes, and random daily ongoings. I also post my original fiction works there for people to read as well.

About me: I’m from New York but go to college down in South Carolina so I technically spend most of the year in the South than North. My major is Biology (yes I've gotten people saying oh my god you're a science major and can write?!) and hopefully one day I’ll end up in a morgue somewhere dissecting a dead body and finding out just how the person died. A Forensic Pathologist if you will. I love the macabre and I love learning about cultures, mythologies, etc. I like abstract things like art and stuff like that. I enjoy sushi and pretty much anything sweet as well. I procrastinate like it’s my job I do it very well (like right now for instance lmao, finals what are those?!) And uh yeah I’m really laid back, probably too much for my respective major. Typically I just like having people around me who get my warped sense of humor/eccentricities but I can get along with just about anyone.

What I read: Mostly fantasy but I’m trying to broaden my horizons. Try being the keyword there herp derp. I don’t have much time for reading at the moment but my current book list can be found here if you are so inclined to look.

What I don't read: Romance. God I just don’t know why I can’t read that genre. Yet I can read and write porn fine. /makes no sense

I also don't really like historical novels.

Do/Will I Critique: Ahah I suck at grammar so no. But as far as plotting/pacing/overall critiquing I can do that!

What I Write: Fiction, fantasy, macabre, mystery sometimes, science fiction, sometimes porn but that’s more fandom based and I haven’t done it in awhile.

What I'm looking for: Honest feedback, friendship, fellow writers, artistic companions, writing buddies!

Who am I looking for: People with similar likes obviously, haha. If anything catches your interest I’d be glad to talk~

Name: Elyssa

Age: 22

About Me: I am an avid writer dedicated to two characters about whom I have been writing for over eight years. I graduated from university last June and now work through an AmeriCorps team at the county housing authority. I nag people about recycling, basically. There isn't much more you need to know about me. I'd rather you get to know my writing, honestly. I'm boring.

About My Journal:
I post whatever I write to my journal, no matter how terrible or short it is (and many of my pieces ARE terrible and short XD). I try to update several times a week, though the schedule changes depending on how busy my life becomes. I treat my journal like a business, so it is pretty well organized tag-wise. I rarely post personal or day-to-day entries; it's just writing or writing/character related information.

What I Write: Fiction, mostly, or whatever strikes my fancy. I have spent eight years writing about the same two characters, so they are a major focus of my LJ posts. I do not have one single storyline for these characters, though, but instead use them to explore hundreds of different stories, situations, and worlds. I suppose I should also say they're both men, in case someone is HORRIBLY INSULTED by stories involving two adult men and not, I don't know, anthro vampire albino wolves or whatever.

I also write some more spiritually-minded things (usually pertaining to writing itself) or simple descriptive pieces if the mood strikes me. I have also been known to write vague pieces which are actually about Cowboy Bebop or Zelda. Brownie points if you can spot my obscure cultural references. My writing is usually very short, at most a few paragraphs, so I promise it doesn't take long to read. I also LOVE questions, so if you want to know more about a certain story/character/piece, PLEASE ask! It will make my freaking month.

What I Don't Write: Very long pieces, fanfiction, erotica, etc. I also don't usually use my journal for everyday ranting, so don't expect me to post quiz results or to blather on about school/work/friends.

What I Read: I prefer fiction, oftentimes of the cheesy fantasy variety, but my favorite author is Ray Bradbury and I believe you can see a lot of his influence style-wise in my writing. I especially admire writing which focuses on developing particular characters or stories versus an epic, series-long plot. I also prefer short writing to longer pieces, but I'm not that picky.

What I Don't Read: Fanfiction, erotica, or anything with offensively stereotypical characters (i.e weak or passive female characters, overly feminine or promiscuous gay men, etc – I'm talking to you, Stephanie Meyer!).

Can I critique/edit someone else's work: Yes, though you may have to request me to do so. I do love giving feedback, especially concerning style or character development.

Please check out my journal if any of this caught your eye. I'm not looking for a following, just some new friends who can rant with me about writer's block, characters, and stories, and would be willing to work through a particular story or idea with me. I promise I'm open and friendly and would love to talk to anyone here regardless of age, gender, or writing preferences.

Name: lethargic soul (pen name)

Age: 16

About me: I am a Filipina--random and excessively strange. I am a college student in the Philippines, taking up Tourism. Well, writing is my singular skill (but I'm trying out new things like Wushu). I watch anime and am proud of it, despite my age :D

About my journal: I only posted once in my journal. But I might fill it with fanfictions and other works.

What I write: I solely write FANFICTIONS. Bleach, Naruto, Death Note, etc.. I'm still working on my fiction projects. My writing style is quite short and restrained (vague, if you may); I'm not much on long and detailed stuff. And my style is still developing: constantly influenced and referenced from authors. I write romantic-tragic stories. I write drabbles and short stories, most of which are tragic and/or weird. See Tags for more info :D

What I don't write: downright fluffy romantic pieces. I don't write about fairytale-themed stuff.

What I read: Romance with tragedy. Or romance with Mafia and racing (currently writing about those). As long as the fanfiction/fiction is realistic, and there are no Mary Sues... I'm good with it. I regard the plot and grammar very highly. Character development and the point of view too. I rarely like First Person POV. I love the works of: Poe, Jose Garcia Villa, Mario Puzo, and Dante Alighieri. See Tags for more info :D

Could I edit someone's work: I'm sorry, but no. I suck at editing. But I can give criticism :)

What I'm looking for: Acquaintances, friends. Readers? People to talk to about books, literature, etc... Oh someone who could help me with character development.  :)

name:  i've changed it before, and may do again.
call me Zen, or branded_irony, if you like.

age
:  21

about me:   ...i like pie?  and puns.
i am a madwoman with a box.
i drink enough tea to poison...whatever happens to have the misfortune of an allergy to flavored water.

about my journal:  sadly, there is much randomness, capslock, and far too frequent outpourings of angst.  but i have tags for writing, so anyone inclined could just skip the rest.

what i write:  poetry, fiction (original and fandom-based), philosophical / literary essay-type things, etc.  i explore characters, through whatever scenarios and genres they lead me.

what i don't write:  drivel.  Snape/Harry.  the script for the latest in a long line of rom-coms.  happy endings that aren't earned with blood and sobs.  things meant to be considered only on a base level.

what i read:  awesome stuff.  science fiction and mysteries and dystopias and gritty realism and even those angsty coming-of-age stories.  as long as it's well-written, isn't boringly predictable or pedantic, and doesn't squick me out, i'll probably love it.

could i edit someone's work:  quid pro quo, yes?

what i'm looking for:  critics.  commiseraters.  muses.  supporters. friends.  the virtual company of like-minded people.  time spent with well-balanced conversationalists.
or, baring the above, anyone willing to stroke my creative ego.

Name: Call me Owl/Oiase.

Age: Old enough.

Location: A lonely place; Murrieta, California. nvrcumhurr.

About Me: Osup, I'm Oiase. Pronounce it like 'Oh-eye-ace.' Now say it faster. That's it. It should sound like 'Oh-ice-say' a bit but lower on the 'say.' You can picture the trouble with telling people how to say it in real life. I've been writing for some years and I've succeeded in no longer using 'orbs' to describe eyes and have had someone bet their life on me becoming a published author. Oh my, how times have changed. Hm, well. At 9, I began writing. At 10, I became interested in psychology. At 11, I started getting myself 'out there' in communities a bit and soon felt I lost my interest in writing. Skipping 12, at 13 I steadfastly got back into writing. And that's my story, I would mark other ages but those are my points of interest. v v interesting.

About My Journal:  It's empty currently; boo. But now that I've time, I've definitely going to be filling it with rants, stories, character concepts, goings-ons - I'd love for you to give me feedback on all of these. Even my rants which are usually pretty entertaining, so my RL friends have told me.

What I Write: I usually say YA but but I've come to realize many of the things I write don't quite fit next to other titles on the market. Off of that, I write general life, personality disorder oriented, psychologically based things(you know, that really focus on the characters mental well-being), lately post-apocalyptic, a bit of romance as a side dish and some action. I really love to have real human emotion in my work so I often focus well on character development.

What I Don't Write: Poetry because I don't appreciate it very well. Fanfiction because... not a big fan, is all. I also don't really write mythical characters much.

What I Read: Whatever I believe is just the right amount of sugar, spice, everything nice, snips, snails and puppy dog tails. I do float more toward 'life' themed novels and some that are a bit 'crooked/disturbed' as long as they properly portray thin

What I Don't Read: Eh. Mostly what I don't write but poetry is beautiful when I can feel it.

Favorite Authors: Ffffffffffffffffffffffu, can't choose.

Favorite Books: See above.

Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: I would, I love to. But I do warn you, people have, um... Well, once a girl said, 'I'd love for you to critique my work. I need a harsh opinion.' I try to be nice but I guess I fail? I'm not an ass, though, that's for damn sure. I don't pick at grammar too much (I leave that to others), but more the actual story.

What I'm Looking For: Everyone - I've never been good at buffets. Sense of humor is a must.

What I'm Not Looking For: Those on pedestals - n0 3l3tism hurr plskthx.

Name: Pekky

Age: 30

Location: New York City (Living in Queens, working in Manhattan, dividing the rest of the time between these two boroughs, Brooklyn, Long Island and New Jersey).

About Me: I am a gal who lives in a city she loves, and has had quite a few adventures.  I am just having my muse back both to blog and to write, although the writing muse is not completely awake there.  The reason why I am writing Fanfiction at the moment.

About My Journal: This is my writing journal, I also keep a personal journal, djpekky  where I put all the real life stuff, as well as some non-writing related curiosity.  In this journal that I just started, I am putting a lot of writing projects, whether they are poetry, essays or fiction.

Interests:  New York City, Character Studies, Writing, Reading Music, Movies, Theatre, Latin American culture, Indian culture and interacting with people, among others.

TV:  Sex and the City, Pretear, Candy Candy, Dragonball Z, Mazinger Z, Starzinger, Magnos, Samurai Jack, Lost, Aeon Flux, Reign the Conqueror, The Maxx, The Tudors, Monty Python... Any odd show that catches my eye, although not current ones, since I don't have TV

Music:  That's a passion of mine, but I am not into Top 40 crap, with very few exceptions.  I can tell you genres: Lounge, Trip-Hop, Techno, Post Rock, New Psychedelia, International types of music (I hate calling it World Music despite of my love for Peter Gabriel), Old school Salsa, Bhangra, Progressive rock...  You get the picture.

Movies:  Let me mention 10 in no particular order: Irreversible; Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, The Red Violin, L' Enthousiasm,  Tetro, Trainspotting, Baraka, Ghost in the Shell, American Beauty and Contact.

What I Write: I used to dislike fanfiction, but I am realizing its usefulness when a writer's block or a half asleep muse needs to be removed, so I am writing some of it (Candy Candy fandom, but I might do other animes).  The rest, I have written free verse poetry, essays, short stories of original work, and I am preparing the characters for an origina.  Whatever I write, I think my style is a lot into character writing, although I am trying to see if my emphasis on dialogue is excessive.

What I Don't Write:  I have never written horror, or fantasy.  With very few exceptions (Candy Candy and only maybe Pretear if I decide to write fanfiction from it), I don't do romance.  At least not unless I can give it a different angle from the corny typical romance.

What I Read:  I can read most things.  Lately it is fanfiction (although not outside of my fandoms), poetry and original short stories.  I read mostly non-fiction for a while, but I am trying to get my feet back into fiction.  I also read the occasional classic.

What I Don't Read: Fanfiction outside of my fandoms.  And corny Harlequin romances.

Favourite Authors and Books: I love the Beat movement and modernist and post-modernist authors, as well as authors in Spanish (my mothertongue); especially Jorge Luis Borges, Julio Cortazar and Pablo Neruda. As for current authors, I like Jeffrey de Eugenides, Jeanette Winterson Paulo Coehlo, Rebecca Miller and Koji Suzuki.  When I get back to fiction, I am sure I will add more to the list.  I also like theatre plays, both Classic and Modern

Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: Even though I have a double-major degree in Spanish and English, I am too shy about English being my second language for some reason.  I can suggest about the story and stuff, but I prefer a conversation with the writer, so I make sure I am not going to take it out from what the writer wants, if that makes sense.

What I'm Looking For: I would like to have people who both read my work and comment on it, and me doing the same.

What I'm Not Looking For:  I'm not looking for harsh critics, or writing snobs.  I can take constructive criticism.  If you prefer to read my original work only, please do let me know so I keep you posted.  I am inserting quite a bit of it, and I am planning to do so increasingly often.

14 August 2009 @ 08:15 am

About Me: Um…well, I’m female, seventeen years old and shy until you get to know me. I live in Sydney, Australia. I like reading (although not lately), writing poetry, ancient history (you’ll notice a lot of random history-related posts in my journal), and etymology. I’m also fairly disorganised and tend to procrastinate (although who doesn’t?) I have entomophobia (fear of insects), I pride myself on my grammar and spelling… and, yeah, that’s about it.

About my Journal: I post anything: videos, writing, rants, thoughts. It’s a hodgepodge, really. But a lot of my RL-related entries/rants will be private, so if you want deep dark secrets, my LJ is not the place to go.

Commenting/Posting: I don’t mind if you don’t comment on my entries, but if you neither comment nor post – well, then, please don’t add me. Also, please do not just add me without asking. Odds are I’ll be fine with it and add you right back, but it’s only common courtesy (I feel) to ask first.

What I Write: Poetry and – well, and small, weird, alternative pieces that could be called ficlets (some are in my LJ if you’d like to see them). I’d also like to try my hand at short stories, once I find the time, and some historical fiction, set in Sparta or Ancient Rome.

What I don’t Write: Fanfiction, mostly. I’ve written a couple of Silmarillion ficlets, but that’s about it. Smut/erotica – I don’t read it, I don’t write it. Huge multi-chap WIPs (hell, even 1000 words is a stretch for me).\
Also, non-fiction is not my cup of tea.

What I Read: For the past year I haven’t been reading much, but I read some fantasy (Tolkien, Pullman  Pratchett), and some David Malouf. I used to be obsessed with Tamora Pierce when I was younger, but I’ve grown out of her books now. Also, I read children’s classics. As in Anne of Green Gables, Deltora Quest, Little Women, and The Secret Garden, to name a few. *sigh* Nostalgia…
I’m reading a lot about the Fall of the Roman Republic, in the period 78-44 BC, for school (Plutarch, Suetonius, various modern historians)

What I Don’t Read: Smut. Multi-chapter WIPs. Dry non-fiction (unless it’s about ancient history!)

What I’m Looking For: Well, friends, obviously, but also people who write poetry and/or short stories – I’d love to read them!

Editing: I don’t mind editing, because my spelling, grammar and punctuation are quite good, if I do say so myself. :D But be warned: I am very picky about grammar and spelling. So if yours are not up to scratch, be prepared. That said, I won’t bite, of course: I am friendly, and I’ll try to be as gentle as possible.

Critiquing: I wouldn't mind critiquing short stories, as long as they weren't too long (for example, I'd critique 500-1000-word stories).
Poetry is harder for me to critique, because it's so personal and subjective, but I'd stil like to try!
