Name: Night, but it's Dr. Night here, especially since my real names a death horse that's been beaten to a fine pulp.

Age: 17, Female

About me:Um, I'm in high school. A high school senior. So, in a year, I'll legally be an adult and (if everything goes as planned) living at school. Mom and Dad are so excited.

I really, really like slash. Almost as much as I love, Aldis Hodge, Angel Coulby, and Nicholas Brendon.

About my journal:
It will mainly be original stories trying desperately to make it to novel length. I write all kinds, from the mundane, quirky rom-com hold the rom to the urban fantasy drag queen adventure epic. You know, the classics that everyone has to write one time or the other. But, hopefully, I'll also rise to the challenge of writing fanfiction.

What I write: Short stories. Novel-length stuff. Things of the heterosexual persuasion. Things of the homosexual persuasion. Things of the this sexuality thing is getting to long so I'll just say et cetera-sexual persuastion.

What I don't write: Um, porn, I guess? I'm not very experienced and I know, I know, that's no excuse. But. I'd feel like some closet, pervert virgin. Not to say there's something wrong with anyone who does that. No, I just have issues. Related to self-esteem. And stuff.

What I read: I write what I read, sure. Amongst other things. I love me a comedy. If it makes me laugh, I want to have that story's plot-babies. And steampunk, baby, all the way.

What I don't read: Incest. Especially twincest. I mean, I might drive through a cousin thing, especially if it's a fanfic about a pairing I love. Such as Oh Very Young by apreludetoanend. S/he's on lj too, I think.

Also, I don't read stories where it feels like one character or group of characters is being treated like shit in comparison to their counterparts. Whether it's a romantic pairing or an antagonistic relationship (whether or not it's good vs. bad). It makes me feel uncomfortable and bored, two of my least favorite feelings. In fandom, I hate it, when it's my not-favorite character and even when it's my favorite character. Let me give you an example:

It's an all human au. Xander's some bumbling blue-collar working getting paid, like, minimum wage or something. He has no friends, because all the Scoobies (except maybe one if he's lucky), for some reason, have decided that in this alternate world, Spike's a much better candidate then anything Xander-shaped. So Xander's drenched in lonely awkwardness, hobbled under the overwhelming lust he holds for Spike while the latter is, well, not. Spike's probably sleeping with Buffy, Cordelia, Angel, etc in his spare time while he works a kick-ass job. And is kick-ass. Canon, sure. I won't dispute that. But, moving on, they'll probably be pulled together in...well, to be honest, I've never stuck around longe enough to see.

I hate this. It's never happened where Xander's in the super sauve position (or I've never read such a fic, not long enough to see this parallel at least, because let's be honest, ultra sauve Xander is hard to write and isn't usually written across from a hapless Spike--let alone a Spike at all.) But I've seen it with Rodney McKay, for example. And I feel bad for John, even if I admittedly love Rodney heaps more, I still love Col. Sheppard.

Wow, that got long, didn't it.

TL;DR?

Could I edit someone else's work?  I'd love to, but this is my senior year, so I barely have to time to be surfing lj at all, let alone giving any real attention to details like that. I'll have the time during times like Winter and Summer Break, sure, but they're sadly too few and far between.

But one day.

One day.

(BTW, you should look forward to this day too. I've been told I'm an editing fool [in a completely awesome way, of course.] Don't let any typos fool you. If, by some miracle I'm able to write this at two in the morning, then forget I typed that. There are no typos or grammatical errors. There never are. Because I'm perfect.

Oh, I didn't care for that judgemental silence. At all.)

What I'm looking for:
Writers, friendship and readers (who give comments and critiques.) And writers. Did I say writers? Sometimes I'll search the web for hours for something to read and...huh, maybe I'd have time for editing if I could cut that out...See, there's some incentive now!

If I came off as crazy or desperate, it's because it's 2 am and I woke up at 6 am this morning. That might be child's play to some of you, but stop being smug.

This Chick Here: Three Years Later

Name: They still call me Shattered. :)

Age: 19, Female

About me: I posted here 3 years ago when I first started using LJ, back then my blog was called Four Shattered Stars: A Senior Year Saga. Since then, a lot has happened. I still love reading, writing and acting. I have a lovely boyfriend and I was diagnosed with type II Bipolar Disorder. I'm friendly, fun and love to laugh. I'm also an amateur journalist.

About my journal:
This is the story of my second year of college. Even though my first year of college was really rough and I ended up going home to Virginia and attending community college, hopefully this will be a year of getting back on my feet and picking up the pieces. I am an English and Theatre major with big hopes and dreams, bipolar disorder and a wonderful, supportive boyfriend. The year is never boring and I invite you to come along with me as I begin Four Shattered Stars: Picking Up The Pieces.

What I write: Whatever comes to mind really. Poetry, descriptions. I am going to try to get back into short stories and working on my novel. I also write magazine articles and in my blog I sometimes pick a subject and just write my opinion about it.

What I don't write: I absolutely do not write Erotica. Also, I hate essays with a burning ,fiery passion.

What I read: Anything that looks interesting, and that's a fact. :)

What I don't read: Boring stuff. But that's really subjective to me, I once got lost in a Biology textbook.

Could I edit someone else's work?  Sure, I don't see why not. :P

What I'm looking for: Writers, friendship and people to read my journal. And comments. Comments make me feel happy. Advice, occasionally. :)

Yup, that's me. Just a Shattered Star. Now why don't you drop on by and tell me who you are?

My names is Angelina and I started a livejournal to help build a platform for the books I am writing.  Right now I am working on a fantasy novel called Les Loups-Garous, which means the werewolves in French.  Mostly I post information and excerpts from the book in my journal and I would really appreciate it if people would read it and give me some feedback.  Its a young adult fiction piece, as is most of what I write; but it does have some mystery, and romance.  I won't really get into the plot too much here, but if you're interested there are excerpts posted in my journal, and also there is a facebook page that's full of quotes and information and I would be thrilled if you guys checked that out, too.  And if you see something here that you think could possibly make a decent story I would love it if you could click the "like" icon for the page.  That page can be found on facebook under the title Les Loups-Garous.

I also post purchasing information for my other two books, which are part of a series called The Drusilla Dracule novels.  I don't really want to go into too much detail about those since I am kind of disappointed about them.  They are published through publishamerica which is pretty much the worst publisher ever.  There is no excerpts posted in my journal for them, although there are some posted on my website at www.angelinarenshaw.com.  I also have a facebook page up for this series under the title Drusilla Dracule Novels.

I am hoping to get some good constructive criticism, so please feel free to rip my little excerpts apart if you feel the need.

I enjoy reading new and original work and I am open to just about everything but historical pieces, and that's only because alot of the time I noticed writer's don't really bother to do their research on those so they write completely unbelievable characters.  I also don't read Westerns.  I am a huge fan of  stories where the characters are completely sarcastic and melodramatic, but not to the extreme of Holden Caulfield in Catcher in the Rye; and any thing where the character is a little neurotic because I find that those are the most realistic characters.

I like fanfiction, despite myself.  I even wrote a fanfiction for Vampire Academy last summer because I couldn't wait for the last book to come out, so I wrote my own version.  However, I will not read a fanfic for Twilight or Harry Potter because they are just way over done... it's nothing personal I just can't get interested in them anymore.

Anyway, I would love to read some stories and give you back as much feedback as I can and I have no problem editing, although I have to admit I can be a little critical.  I'm working on that.

Anyway, just let me know if you are interested and we can get to work.

Name:
Jenny

Age:
26

About Me:
I am just a normal girl who happens to be a total geek :D

About My Journal:
Its a bit of everything.

What I Write:
Pretty much anything that my muse feels like getting me into. I prefer things like fantasy, drama, and magical realism though. I write both original and fan works as well as all other forms of writing (but mostly the first two). I certainly enjoy making my characters like real people and making my plots like real situations (well as real as you can get with fantasy and magic lol). I also enjoy writing on the topic of writing, particularly about things like cliches and Mary Sue's (I am the author of The Original ANTI Universal Mary Sue Litmus Test).

What I Don't Write:
I don't write flat characters just to fulfill some random plot idea inside my head. I usually don't write futuristic or sci-fi stuff either, not because I don't like it (I love it), I just haven't had any good ideas or experience in writing it. I prefer magic to guns is all really. Also I almost never write pure romance, its always mixed with something. I don't mind romance, just not on its own. I seriously dislike romanticism and how everything these days is romanticized.

What I Read:
My favorite books are things like Harry Potter, Sweep, and the Fear Street Sagas. I enjoy mostly witch/magic related books enough though I will read anything that catches my eye.

What I Don't Read:
Anything that has been romanticized or something that just is totally wrong in all things writing (ie. stuff like Twilight). I am not much for straight anything - like just horror or just action or just sci-fi. Live doesn't work that way and I prefer to be able to imagine that the story is plausible rather than just a quick little escape.

Other Interests:
anything fun, living and enjoying life :)

Willing to Edit Someone Else's Work?:
Of course, do it all the time actually.

What I'm looking for:
Writing friends, I think we all know how hard it is to find friends that you can talk shop with, even harder when you move away from specific fandoms/genres. I am open for anything from exchanging works to discussions to help to just talking about things other than writing. I like talking with me, and it that person happens to be a writer as well than that's awesome :) I especially love talking with people who may or may not agree with me on things like Mary Sue's/cliches/other writing topics because that is my little niche in the writing community. Writing is fun, and having people to share in that just makes it that much better!

Name: Shannon. Also go simply by 'newfound,' since that's a name I use online frequently. No reason I chose 'newfound' aside from the fact that I like the way the word sounds. :)

Age: 18

About me: I'm so bad about talking about myself. But, um... I'm bisexual (or whatever you wanna call it, I don't generally like to label it since it's just so... unlabelable. Which is now a word. Hush). I draw when I can, because I like to illustrate the characters I portray in original writing. Also, watercolor? Insanely ridiculously fun to me, even though I'm not very good at it. I've worked with clay before as well, and I've made jewelry out of both beads and wire. Obviously I write, because otherwise I wouldn't be here. :P I cook/bake a lot too, because I find it bizarrely relaxing - mostly baking desserts, because, y'know, they're desserts and are yummy. I enjoy watching some TV shows and, as I've found out recently, some animes. TV shows I like include Supernatural (early seasons in particular), Glee, 24, and I've started watching Torchwood, Dexter, and a few others. I'm not all that picky, actually. Doesn't matter what genre something is, if it catches my interest I'll watch/read it. I also like video games. And, lastly, to not sound like I never go outside, I like hiking and just being outside period, preferably outside of the city because the city is all crowded and hot and ew.

About my journal: This journal started out as a sock puppet account and kinda still is, but I've been finding myself using this journal more and more than my "main" one. I'm really shy about sharing my writing with people I know irl, so I figured that I'd share it with people I don't know and make friends based on interests in writing and more. So far barely anything is posted in my journal, just one fan fic, but I plan to change that.

What I write: Both original and fan fiction. I write in many genres: horror, fantasy, supernatural, comedy, some romance... and a mix of those all together. I also include kink/bdsm/erotica in some of my stories, so... be warned if you read my stuff, although I always include the appropriate warnings with that stuff so people aren't surprised by it.

What I don't write: I don't like to write about myself, ever, if I can avoid it. I'm bad at it, and sound like a bore when I do. You can tell that from this little blurb here. :P It's pretty much a case-by-case thing, though. I can say for sure though that I don't write poetry, because I'm horrible at it.

What I read: Anything, if it's written well. I especially like fantasy/supernatural stuff. I particularly like George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire, the Harry Potter books, Patricia Brigg's writing, the Bartimaeus Trilogy, Neil Gaiman's writing (especially Neverwhere, loved that), the Cal Leandros books, um... and a lot of other stuff. I don't want to get long winded here.

Could I critique someone's work: Possibly. If they had a couple of other people also reading, then yes, so that the writer could cross reference and see if I'm being unrealistic in critiquing.

What I'm looking for: Friends. They don't have to read my work, and if they do, they don't have to like it. Don't have to have the same interests either, since I can't even completely list mine here. Just anybody who's willing to talk and get to know each other and make a stay at LJ more enjoyable. :)

This ended up being so long winded. My bad. :x

Name: lethargic soul (pen name)

Age: 16

About me: I am a Filipina--random and excessively strange. I am a college student in the Philippines, taking up Tourism. Well, writing is my singular skill (but I'm trying out new things like Wushu). I watch anime and am proud of it, despite my age :D

About my journal: I only posted once in my journal. But I might fill it with fanfictions and other works.

What I write: I solely write FANFICTIONS. Bleach, Naruto, Death Note, etc.. I'm still working on my fiction projects. My writing style is quite short and restrained (vague, if you may); I'm not much on long and detailed stuff. And my style is still developing: constantly influenced and referenced from authors. I write romantic-tragic stories. I write drabbles and short stories, most of which are tragic and/or weird. See Tags for more info :D

What I don't write: downright fluffy romantic pieces. I don't write about fairytale-themed stuff.

What I read: Romance with tragedy. Or romance with Mafia and racing (currently writing about those). As long as the fanfiction/fiction is realistic, and there are no Mary Sues... I'm good with it. I regard the plot and grammar very highly. Character development and the point of view too. I rarely like First Person POV. I love the works of: Poe, Jose Garcia Villa, Mario Puzo, and Dante Alighieri. See Tags for more info :D

Could I edit someone's work: I'm sorry, but no. I suck at editing. But I can give criticism :)

What I'm looking for: Acquaintances, friends. Readers? People to talk to about books, literature, etc... Oh someone who could help me with character development.  :)
