fairestcatHello lovely Festividder! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I love vids of all kinds, and I'm sure anything you make me will thrill me! The only thing I ask you to avoid is vids that use audio from the original source, especially if the music also includes lyrics, as I find parsing the multiple streams of audio distracting.
I've put my fandom-specific comments behind the cut!
Our Flag Means Death (TV) RPF
What it is: The delightful cast of Our Flag Means Death, especially the long friendship and love between Rhys Darby and Taika Waititi, now playing pirates in love with each other.
Look, TAIKA AND RHYS JUST LOVE EACH OTHER SO MUCH. I love the fun they have together, the way they can fluster each other, and the way they switch back and forth between silly comedic banter and utterly sincere compliments.
I would of course be thrilled by a Taika/Rhys vid in particular, but I'd also love a vid about the whole cast. They seem to get along so well! Con and Vico in "Daddy" and "Papi" shirts! Con and Nathan flirting their way through the con circuit. Samba and the 40 orange cake! Everyone pretending that Nathan wasn't coming back for season two. They're such delightful weirdos delighting in each other and I love that for them and for us.

What it is: Two Wisconsin writers and sled dog racer who have a large twitter following and Patreon community affectionately dubbed the #uglydogs.
Dogs! Super, super cute dogs! Elite Canine Athletes! With wonderfully distinct personalities! Who love to run! And explore new places! And roll around in dead things! I love Blair and Quince and the stories they share with us about their life and their dogs, and I would love a vid that just revels in the love and joy this whole community shares.

2023/24 ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating RPF
What it is: The Junior Grand Prix (JGP) is the premiere series of Junior-level competitions that run every fall prior to the better-known ISU Senior Grand Prix series. Junior Grand Prix events are open to skaters from any International Skating Union (ISU) member nation, regardless of skill level, as long as they meet the age criteria. (18 and under, or 21 and under for men in Pairs and Dance).
All the competitions are available in full on Youtube if you're in a non-geoblocked country (ie: not in the USA or Japan) or have a decent VPN.
The thing I love about the JGP is that you see a wide range of skills: from skaters who are getting close to on par with the top seniors, to skaters from small federations who struggle with double jumps. Sometimes the small fed skaters are the first skaters from their country ever to compete internationally in their discipline, or the first skaters from their country to compete internationally at all. JGP Austria this year also included a transgender figure skater, Maria Reikdal from Brazil.
I personally love watching the range of performances, and especially love that even the skaters who don't have the jumps can have beautiful spins and other qualities that make them lovely to watch. It's a really broad category obviously, but I'd love a vid that focuses on just one event or discipline and really shows off that variety.

Better Than Chocolate (1999) [SAFETY]
What it is: A Canadian indie queer romantic comedy about a young lesbian attempting to keep her fledgling romance a secret after her mother and brother unexpectedly move in with her and her girlfriend.
This is such a gem of a queer romcom! I love the diversity of the characters, and the frank and entertaining discussion of sex and sexuality. I love the romance and the friendships, and the extremely hot sex scenes, but I'd also love to see a vid highlight the political aspects of the movie, and particularly the queer bookstore fighting against censorship from Canada Customs.
Warnings for: Homophobia and references to homophobic violence.
The Apartment (1960) [SAFETY]
What it is: A sometimes quite black comedy/drama from Billy Wilder, starring Jack Lemmon, Shirley MacLaine and Fred MacMurray, in which a low-level office drone tries to get ahead in his company by letting various executives use it for trysts with their girlfriends/mistresses and it goes about as badly as you would expect. Especially since it turns out his Big Boss is having an affair with the Elevator Girl he has a crush on.
First of all, this movie looks gorgeous. Joseph LaShelle had a real gift for noirish black and white cinematography and he's at his best here. And the acting is perfect. This movie WILL make you fall in love with Shirley MacLaine. But what I love most about it is the very pointed opinions this movie has about corporate America, exploitation of workers, and workplace sexual harassment, how genuinely bleak it gets at times, and how it nevertheless is really fucking funny and romantic.
Warning for: attempted suicide and discussion thereof.
Loena Hendrickx RPF
Who she is: Loena Hendrickx is a Belgian figure skater, the reining 2023 World Bronze medalist, and 2022 World Silver Medalist. Belgium is not a big figure skating country, and Loena is coached by her brother who was a decent skater in his own right, but never a brilliant one, and he had never coached a skater of her quality previously.
She's incredibly passionate and fierce with a skating style (and propensity for tiny skirts) that reminds me strongly of Katerina Witt. And I've loved her ever since she was an up-and-coming Junior skater killing it to Celine Dion. I would love a vid that highlighted her strength and speed and possibly also her relationship with her brother Jorick, who is so much his sister's biggest fan.

Marilyn Monroe Movies [UMBRELLA]
What they are: Marilyn Monroe, the quintessential Blonde Bombshell of the 1950s, was an actress and singer who appeared in over two dozen movies, and a cultural icon and movie producer who fashioned and controlled her own image during the bulk of her career.
Today Marilyn Monroe is an Icon and an Idea more than a person, and even when she was alive she was perpetually underestimated, but she was a fucking fantastic actress and a magnetic presence and took control of her own work and image in a way that was well outside the norm of her time. She was also a Hot Mess™ and an addict. She was, in my opinion, a genius in her field, with all that entails. And I love her, and would love to see her celebrated in vid form.
My favourite Marilyn movies are Some Like it Hot, All About Eve, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, How To Marry a Milionaire, There's No Business Like Show Business, Bus Stop and The Misfits.
Warnings: Marilyn's last movie, The Misfits is brilliant, but it's not at all a comedy and the entire premise is built around state-sanctioned animal death.
Roman Holiday (1953) [SAFETY]
What it is: The movie that made Audrey Hepburn a star. The story of a runaway Princess (Hepburn) exploring Rome on her own and the American reporter (Gregory Peck) who finds and then falls in love with her.
Maybe my favourite movie of all time? I just never get tired of this movie. It's beautifully shot and directed, and Hepburn and Peck are both absolutely radiant in their roles. I keep trying to write more here, but really just, I love this movie and I'd love a vid for this movie because of how much I love this movie.

Love in the Afternoon (1957) [SAFETY]
What it is: A romantic comedy starring Audrey Hepburn as the daughter of a French private detective (played delightfully by Maurice Chevalier) and Gary Cooper as a notorious American playboy and wealthy businessman.
Love in the Afternoon is a classic age-difference romance with a side of identity porn, directed deftly by Billy Wilder in ways that keep the romance from ever feeling skeevy. It's fun and funny and sweetly romantic and beautifully shot in black and white on location in Paris. Like Roman Holiday, I would love any vid for this movie simply because of how much I love this movie.

Twelfth Night (1996) [SAFETY]
What it is: an adaptation of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night that came out when I was sixteen and was a very formative part of my bisexual awakening.
This was my first Twelfth Night and I continue to love it just as much as I did as a baby queer. It's a delightful romp and Imogen Stubbs has such great chemistry with both Helena Bonham-Carter and Toby Stephens. I would love a vid that highlights how queer this story and this production both are.
If you're browsing letters for such purposes, I am absolutely open to receiving treats.
