"What an opportunity!" I thought. Days upon days of being trapped in the house with not much to do and few external demands that I could possibly meet. I could finally get some audio work done and get some more songs into the queue for _Crazy Quilt #2_ and move the bar along for _Beast&Boar_. Except....
The Windows partition would not boot and that's where my audio editing lives. And Audacity on the Ubuntu side was also having some *straaaaaaange* problem where it was not playing back cleanly, as in some weird sync/clipping thing. So no audio work this whole fucking week.
jmax315 was finally able to make it over today and it seems to have been a loose connector, because reseating all the cables and drives---- fixed it. tada! So apparently something made something vibrate loose. Apparently. And a setting in Audacity was found that fixed the sound problem in Ubuntu, but neither of us understand exactly why that setting fixed it, when theoretically exactly the opposite approach (it's complicated to explain) should yield better sound. So, on both counts, things are fixed and improved, but why? I'm not complaining. Nothing's really broken. But was it really broken? This sort of thing can really get you hyperguessing what the Hell is/was going on. My best answer: It's the usual Gremliny stuff I've dealt with most of my aware life. However...
Just a few short years ago, this kind of episode would much more likely have ended with everything in a smoking ruin. It seems that the volume has been turned down on these phenomena a lot. Whatever it is, it seems to have to work harder (and boy do I see alot of evidence that it's been working REAL hard lately- lots of stupid little crap that I haven't been complaining about) to accomplish less. I'll take this as progress and feel good about that. But I think that I still have a right to be annoyed that something seems singularly determined to take sniper shots at my livelihood and my domestic contentment.
But as I was advised to do, I'm falling back on the armour of my being surrounded by people who care about me, and who *do* want to see me do well, and who *do* believe in me. And I'm also falling back on my strongest suit of simply making myself unstoppable, by having the will and the determination to BE unstoppable until I find the ways around, thru, or despite these obstacles.
I'm very very grateful for this support, and very glad of my determination. This episode *could* have sucked REAL bad, but instead was simply an annoyance and a delay in plans that are going to succeed despite all that has befallen and all that is to come.
And I will stand corrected of my claim earlier as, actually, I *am* complaining. I don't LIKE having to constantly shake off crap like this just to get to the point where I can DO my fucking work. I don't like it. It seems really futile. It's not gonna stop me, but I'm not gonna enjoy it.
And so, if I ever do find a source of this "harassment", my lack of enjoyment now, and my fury at when it was worse, and my continued annoyance if it doesn't stop- all of that is going to count when I compute my response. How good my life continues to be and how much better it keeps getting is going to count too. I don't like holding grudges, but I've got to be honest, and say that I'm being inspired pretty honestly to hold this one.
But in the meantime, thanks again, John. YOU RULE!

Very similar set-up to how LJ was before the buy-up. I'm told there's a way to do an auto-import of…
On a side note, speaking of albums, when was your previous one released? I am wondering if I managed to miss it and would…
See, the thing is, the issues I bring up, while not always the norm, are still pretty common, and I think they ought to be addressed.
But that aside, I also think that there's umbrage…
